In "Point Break," a young FBI agent, Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey), infiltrates a cunning team of thrill-seeking elite athletes–led by the charismatic Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez). Failed to capitializeI unerstand why some people didnt like it because they felt as though it didnt give the oringial justice. I've seen both but honestly i did want a different take on point break and got it. However i feel like they didnt captialize on the one thing that kept me interested in the movie. The Ozaki 8. I feel like of they expanded more on this concept or rather go more indepth with it other then saying HEY they are doing this thing called the Ozaki 8 but were going to only give you vague info on it. Point FakeBodhi is played by the awful actor and zero-charisma Edgar Ramirez. No magnetism, no playfulness. No chemistry between Utah and Pappas, some Brit with a cockney accent a la Dick VanDyke (WTH did he say?) They took an AMERICAN film about AMERICAN surfers and remade it with a bunch of humorless dweebs. Laird Hamilton proves he’s a soulless stunt gimmick bro with his cameo in this garbage. Sell out. The film is bathed in gray and blue and other cold hues. It’s slick and sleek and phony. What do you expect from this living DB of a director? Awful product placement to boot. Utah shows up with (besides the obligatory extreme tattoos) at Angel falls in the exact same over-priced Arc Teryx poser get up as the people he’s pursuing? Would recommendI would recommend this movie even though there are 1 star ratings that's just people comparing it to the older movie, but the scenery is amazing and the heist scenes and other action scenes are very well done. Only a few things they could have added or changed in the movie which is adding more heisting scenes and less "party" scenes for a better movie experience, but overall great movie and is right now my favourite movie. Don't Miss The PointLet's be clear! If you are looking for a remake of the original, this is not it. This version has been done with heavy drama, philosophy, and much more detail to the back-end of the story. I liken it to the Al Pachino Classic "Heat". The movie has been lightened up with a combination of some of the most difficult stunts ever to be put on film. This version does not attempt to copycat the original. Rather, a fresh take on an old tale. To grasp the quality of this flick one must possess the ability to appreciate both drama and action. If this is not you then don't bother to rent.
