Lion Description

In LION, five-year-old Saroo gets lost on a train travelling away from his home and family. Frightened and bewildered, he ends up thousands of miles away, in chaotic Kolkata. Somehow he survives living on the streets, escaping all sorts of terrors and close calls in the process, before ending up in an orphanage that is itself not exactly a safe haven. Eventually Saroo is adopted by an Australian couple, and finds love and security as he grows up in Hobart. Not wanting to hurt his adoptive parents’ feelings, he suppresses his past, his emotional need for reunification, and his hope of ever finding his lost mother and brother. But a chance meeting with some fellow Indians reawakens his buried yearning. With just a small store of memories, and the help of a new technology called Google Earth, Saroo embarks on one of the greatest needle-in-a-haystack quests of modern times.
In 1986, Saroo was a five-year-old child in India of a poor but happy rural family. On a trip with his brother, Saroo soon finds himself alone and trapped in a moving decommissioned passenger train that takes him to Calcutta, 1500 miles away from home. Now totally lost in an alien urban environment and too young to identify either himself or his home to the authorities, Saroo struggles to survive as a street child until he is sent to an orphanage. Soon, Saroo is selected to be adopted by the Brierley family in Tasmania, where he grows up in a loving, prosperous home. However, for all his material good fortune, Saroo finds himself plagued by his memories of his lost family in his adulthood and tries to search for them even as his guilt drives him to hide this quest from his adoptive parents and his girlfriend. Only when he has an epiphany does he realize not only the answers he needs, but also the steadfast love that he has always had with all his loved ones in both worlds.
A five-year-old Indian boy gets lost on the streets of Calcutta, thousands of kilometers from home. He survives many challenges before being adopted by a couple in Australia; 25 years later, he sets out to find his lost family.

"The Lion Guard" will recount the efforts of Kion, the son and youngest child of Simba and Nala, to assemble a team of animals to protect the Pride Lands. It will also feature new characters including a cheetah named Fuli, a hippopotamus named Beshte, an egret named Ono and a honey badger named Bunga, who will serve as Kion's friends.

I couldn't stop crying, one because one moment you can be crying from sadness and the next your crying from happiness.
  • Special and touching

This is a great story, well told and acted. All aspects of the movie scintillate, with powerful emotional highs and lows.

Very well acted, true story, supremely entertaining. Recommending it to anyone that will listen.
  • Remarkable

It's been three days since we watched the movie but my brothers are still calling out the names "Saroo" and "Guddu". It sure left a lasting impression.
  • Great Movie!!!

    Neal JE
By far the best movie of 2016.
  • One of the best movies

That movie was one of the best in the face of the earth I would like to say it's one of my favorite movies it is such an inspiring movie I would have to give it five stars because it was so good😁
  • Best Movie I've seen in a long time

The acting in this movie is superb. Kidman and Patel might have done the movie of their lives. The character Patel plays has almost a sixth sense, sensing danger at such a young age and piecing together memories with Google Earth. The story will "haunt" you for days. Watch it. You won't be sorry.
