Lion Description

In LION, five-year-old Saroo gets lost on a train travelling away from his home and family. Frightened and bewildered, he ends up thousands of miles away, in chaotic Kolkata. Somehow he survives living on the streets, escaping all sorts of terrors and close calls in the process, before ending up in an orphanage that is itself not exactly a safe haven. Eventually Saroo is adopted by an Australian couple, and finds love and security as he grows up in Hobart. Not wanting to hurt his adoptive parents’ feelings, he suppresses his past, his emotional need for reunification, and his hope of ever finding his lost mother and brother. But a chance meeting with some fellow Indians reawakens his buried yearning. With just a small store of memories, and the help of a new technology called Google Earth, Saroo embarks on one of the greatest needle-in-a-haystack quests of modern times.

The Lion Guard will recount the efforts of Kion, the son and youngest child of Simba and Nala, to assemble a team of animals to protect the Pride Lands. Some characters from The Lion King, its 1998 sequel The Lion King II: Simba's Pride and 2004's The Lion King 1½, will appear such as Kiara, Timon, Pumbaa, Rafiki, Zazu, Simba, Nala and Mufasa. It will also feature new characters including a cheetah named Fuli, a hippopotamus named Beshte, an egret named Ono and a honey badger named Bunga, who will serve as Kion's friends.

Lion Movie Reviews

  • Almost...

    Chang Shan Hydrangea
This was a decent movie especially on the part of the actors. However, cannot meet a movie like Changeling for example, in my opinion. I just felt something in this story could've been further developed. Like something was missing.
  • Gripping & gut-wrenching, yet hopeful.

There are some films that leave you awe-struck and wanting to change the world. This stunning narrative ranks among the best of them and will leave you drained and fulfilled at the same time. Powerful and humbling...beautiful and raw.
  • Wow!!

Was not expecting it to be as good as it was. Such a amazing story! Must see!!
  • Incredible story and a great movie.

One of the best real stories. Great movie.
  • I can't even describe this.

    Heather Posey
So very powerful I've seen it twice, bought the book and am reading it and I am still completely mesmerized by Saroo's story. It would be humbling just to meet him. The film is a beautiful testament to the power of love mixed with the human spirit. It's a tale of survival and redemption.
  • Not sure why the reviews are so high...

Slow and seems to try to hard, not worth the time investment.
  • Excellent movie

    Greek Woman
Very good movie. Great scenario based on a real story. At the end I was in tears. Refreshing to enjoy a movie with a good ending.
  • Lion

    So amazing
  • Excellent

    Definitely one to watch.
  • Boring

So slow and boring, no depth to the movie. Bounces around too much doesn't give you any time to get invested in the characters. No clue how Nicole Kidman is nominated for an award on this she barely did anything. The best part is the last 5 minutes.
