In 1939 Poland, Antonina Zabinska (two-time Academy Award® nominee Jessica Chastain) and her husband successfully run the Warsaw Zoo and raise their family in an idyllic existence. Their world is overturned, however, when the country is invaded by the Nazis and they are forced to report to the Reich's newly appointed zoologist (Daniel Brühl). To fight back on their own terms, the Zabinskis risk everything by covertly working with the Resistance and using the zoo's hidden tunnels and cages to save families from Nazi brutality.

Amazing storyI never heard about that story it is amazing how that family risk their lives and saved 300 Jews I have read holocaust books and heard stories about many people who experience it but I never heard of that story it was amazing and a good movie everyone you should see it. It was pretty good!I wish they would have talked more about what Jan did when fighting against the Nazis. Like how he went as far as secretly poisoning their meat. Heartfelt true storyThere is in the direction of this film and in Jessica Chastains acting something true , and heartfelt that carries it along sometimes a bit slowly , but I found the editing and the scenes around the ghetto extremely real and uposed. I love animals so other than the images of those that were hurt , enjoyed this aspect very much. It is not another holocaust movie, it is touching and very vivid in its direction. Český Antonina Zabinská práci v manželem řízené zoologické zahradě ve Varšavě přímo zbožňuje. Se zvířaty si rozumí mnohem víc než s lidmi, nebojí se vlézt mezi neklidné slony do výběhu, je to vlastně ona, kdo svou energií a rozhodností celou zahradu vede. Ani ona však není schopná čelit valícím se dějinám. Když 1. září 1939 napadne Německo Polsko, pocítí to zahrada prakticky okamžitě. Bombardování a ostřelování města ve vteřině zničí všechno, co manželé Zabinští léta budovali. Ze zahrady bez zvířat se stane skladiště německých zbraní a své odborné znalosti můžou Antonina a její muž Jan (Johan Heldenbergh) využívat jen k chovu prasat. Právě tady ale leží začátek cesty k jejich odvážnému plánu.
