Tessa Connover (Katherine Heigl) is barely coping with the end of her marriage when her ex husband, David (Geoff Stults), becomes happily engaged to Julia Banks (Rosario Dawson)—not only bringing Julia into the home they once shared but also into the life of their daughter, Lilly (Isabella Rice). Trying to settle into her new role as a wife and a stepmother, Julia believes she has finally met the man of her dreams, the man who can help her put her own troubled past behind her. But Tessa’s jealousy soon takes a pathological turn until she will stop at nothing to turn Julia’s dream into her ultimate nightmare.
Julia moves in with her fiancé, David, but his ex-wife and her own haunting past join forces to rock her quiet suburban existence.

Wasn't disappointed - but not entirely pleased, eitherThis may not have been the career-topping moment for the screenwriter, director, set designer, dialogue editor, or for the camera work. (Those things drove me battier than the overall movie.) It might be easier to make a list of my impressions - --The scenes often felt claustrophobic. That seemed to be planned, as the shots became tighter and tighter as the movie went on. It went a little too far though, and made me just want it to be over with. I'm not talking about suspense, I mean annoyance. --These characters have some kind of something in their Wheaties every morning because they just won't die. Things that should have resulted in skull fractures, legs snapped in half, fatal blood loss, etc... Nope, they were just fine after those injuries. Unless you're a bad guy....then you get the magnificently huge knife straight to the heart and you're toast in less than 30 seconds. It pays to be good. --Three unanswered questions. (There are more I'm sure, but these are the ones that really bothered me) What about the suitcase on the highway? Maybe I missed it but that never seemed to come up, and that's a pretty big deal to lose a boatload of stuff without even realizing it or batting an eye. The second thing is the snide remark the husband-to-be made to his future wife talking to Al all the time? Al is a woman first of all, and they are best friends. All he did was to make those remarks about talking to Al again...very childish and intolerant, and no discussion about it. It was just ok for him to be a jerk or to not explain what his actual concern was. --The third question is about the grandmother. Cheryl Ladd is just spooky. She's either an automated wax figure or they're digitally placing her younger face on to her current one. Of course I'm kidding, but seriously she either doesn't age or has the best lighting and makeup team following her from job to job. --I think the girl playing Lily did a very good job. Even though we've all seen these plot devices before, it doesn't mean it's easy to play a girl not only dealing with divorcing parents but also to slowly realize you kind of like your new step mom more than your actual mom, and start seeing that your birth mother is more than likely totally bat-poop crazy and is definitely abusive. --On a good note, Katherine Heigl was great in her tightly-wound role. I really enjoyed that. She always seems to have more range than some give her credit for. And finally, the moral of the story being tri-fold: believe your “forever love” when they tell you something, come clean about your past to the person you love because not doing so can have disastrous consequences, and those you love the most are also the most perfectly positioned to destroy your humanity by abusing you physically and/or mentally. So, that’s why I gave the movie 4 stars. It' certainly not a Cannes-level film, but there are parts that are accidentally good..Score: 4/5
AMAZING!!!One of the critic reviews said this was a thriller from another decade and that is absolutely correct! if you are in your 30's or older and loved made for TV Lifetime movies you will delight in this film. It is EXACTLY like a Lifetime movie! Katherine Hiegel is perfect for this type of movie and she kills it as an over the top psycho ex wife who is jealous of the new woman in her ex's life. And Cheryl Lad plays her controlling mother to boot! It's amazing..Score: 5/5
