"Bad Rap" follows the lives and careers of four Asian-American rappers trying to break into a world that often treats them as outsiders. Sharing dynamic live performance footage and revealing interviews, these artists make the most skeptical critics into believers.

This My Jam/FinallyI be able to purchase this just yet, but I downloaded itunes, just to state how much I enjoyed this documentary. I was fortunate enough to view a screening on the film in San Francisco, some months ago. Thanks to a friend driving nine hours back and forth from Las Vegas... What I like most about this documentary, is not only does it follow the lives of these four rappers, who are not only different in styles from each other, they're also friends. Actual friends. They're also artists, I'm already familar with. Although some more than others, it's still intereting to gain more insight on their lives/careers. I enjoyed the commentary from other Asian artists, and gained some insight on things, I had no idea about. Some of the insider commentary, I could have done without, but what do I know? I was a little salty Overall this documentary is so great and an important one. I left the screening entertained, and having gained even more respect for these four artists. I also left hopeful one day, there will be more inclusion in Hip-Hop. The main determent for the stigma attached to Asian artists is, visibility. Representation. I'm glad this doc exists to keep questioning those stereotypes, and people will see them as dope rappers, and not just dope Asian rappers. Currently, so many great things are happening for Rek, Awk, Dumb and Lyricks(YOX). Knowing more of their stories, makes me super excited for them. They've worked hard and deserve it. Thanks to Jaeki and Salima for making this happen. Kudos. Major Props, guys. You're both rad. Hopefully people see this and gain a better perspective and understand sometimes there's not much that separates us, no matter what race someone may be..Score: 5/5
