Rocky Balboa is a struggling Philadelphia boxer who is scorned by his gym's owner, patronized by a loan shark and rebuffed by a shy 'plain-Jane', whose butcher brother keeps engineering a romantic match. Rocky would have remained in this rut had not heavyweight champion Apollo Creed come up with the Bicentennial gimmick to give a chance for a 'nobody' to become a 'somebody'. The "Italian Stallion" trains earnestly and goes the distance...against all odds!

An uneducated collector for a Philadelphia loan shark is given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fight against the world heavyweight boxing champion.

An inspiration to all.I live a simple life. I wake up, I go to school, I come home, do homework, go to bed, and it starts all over again. I live a routine kind of a life. I’m just a kid; what can I do to change a thing about it? Then, I see movies like Rocky. They prove to me that even though I’m just a nobody, even though I don’t really think I can change much, an ordinary guy like me can make something more out of myself then I already am. Rocky was just another bun in the slums of Philadelphia. He was a one in a thousand shot, and he took that shot, that chance, and rode it to a better life. Through hard work and passion, Rocky made himself better than he was; he took the reins and turned his life around. A story like that can’t help but make me feel that I can do the same, and with that inspiration, maybe I can change. Anyone can.
