A charmingly naïve boy from the English village of Wall travels to a magical, mythical world in search of the falling star that will help him win the heart of his true love in this fantasy adventure starring Charlie Cox, Claire Danes, Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ricky Gervais, and Sienna Miller. For hundreds of years the massive cobblestone barrier that surrounds the sleepy English hamlet of Wall has kept the citizens of the village safe and secure from the malevolent supernatural forces that stir just outside its perimeter. When dashing Tristran Thorn (Cox) promises the fairest girl in the village, Victoria (Miller), that he will prove his love by bestowing her with a genuine falling star, his daring mission sends him on an adventure far outside the comfortable confines of Wall. In order to find the fallen star, Tristran will have to ascend the wall and venture deep into the forbidden heart of the fantastical realm known as Stormhold. Upon discovering that the meteorite he sought was in fact a beautiful girl named Yvaine (Danes), who has stumbled though space and is now being pursued by the King of Stormhold's (Peter O'Toole) sons (who long to use her cosmic powers to lay claim to the throne), Tristran vows to protect the otherworldly visitor at all costs. But the King's sons aren't the only ones in search of the luminous Yvaine; fearsome witch Lamia (Pfeiffer) has become convinced that the young girl's power can help her to achieve eternal youth and beauty. As Tristran makes his way through Stormhold on a mission to bring the star back to Wall, he will encounter a series of spectacular characters and creatures that will lead him to a fate he never imagined. Layer Cake director Matthew Vaughn serves as screenwriter and director for this tale of witches and pirates adapted from the novel by fantastic literature icon Neil Gaiman, who also produces.
In a countryside town bordering on a magical land, a young man makes a promise to his beloved that he'll retrieve a fallen star by venturing into the magical realm. His journey takes him into a world beyond his wildest dreams and reveals his true identity.

Such a Treat!I watched this movie for the first time last week . I’m so glad I did. I’ve been it two more times since then . I showed it to two people that never heard of it . Good movie, even better book!Okay, you guys should know that this was based on an EXCELLENT book by the wickedly talented Neil Gaiman - his stories are capable of transporting a reader to a whole other universe or dimension, and i always feel like i physically traveled somewhere after i surface from every novel of his. On to the movie... Where the book is at once whimsical and dark and sweet and earthy and even sinister at times, the movie is just pure fun. It doesn't completely capture the essence of Neil Gaiman's writing, but it brought the story to life in its own way, and i thoroughly enjoyed the movie on its own merit. Of course, an all-star cast like this one doesn't hurt, and you can tell these thespians were living it up and having the time of their lives, especially Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro - the latter was HILARIOUS! And Claire Danes was positively glowing (literally and metaphorically). It's a family movie, the kind where all generations can come together to enjoy on repeat occasions. Worthy buy..Score: 4/5
One of the best movies I have ever seenThis is, simply put, one of the most Epic movies I have ever seen. This is in my top 3 of all time.
The story itself is simply Epic in scope. There are so many amazing plot twists and turns, humor, action, love, shock, dismay, fear, and more. They took two hours to make this movie because that is what it took to make it right, and at no time did the story feel rushed, or did you feel as if corners were cut to tell the story.
The acting was absolutely superb by everybody. Everybody did such a good job in their roles, that I can't imagine anyone else could have filled the roles they did. I never once felt as if anybody was pushing their lines. Nothing ever felt hokey, or fakes, or 'acted.' To the contrary, all of the actors and actresses drew you into the story and had you cheering for the good guys and booing the bad guys (or witches in this case ;-)
This is one of the very few movies I have seen where the absolutely stunning special effects didn't exist for the sake of showing off special effects or the technical genius of a special effects outfit. Instead, special effects were so expertly used, and used just exactly right, that you get lost in and become part of the story, instead of feeling like you are on the outside watching in. Princes...and Witches...and Stars. Oh, My!"Stardust" is a delightful mix of adventure, romance, comedy, and fantasy. It's an adult fairy tale that, like true fairy tales, evokes the wonder, the dread, and the emotion of human imagination. It is, at one level, the story of a village boy seeking the meaning of the outside world. But it's also about love, immortality, power, and evil. And it also contains one of the sweetest, most passionate, declarations of love by one character to another you'll ever seen in a movie…although to tell you who those characters were, or what magical spell they were under at the time, would be to spoil one of the many gems in this movie. Rent it if you're in the mood for a narrative of a quest tinged with danger, and where you're never far from the expectation of a happy ending. But buy it if, like me, you enjoy seeing the small things that you might miss on a first viewing: The way the farm boy looks at his breasts when he is magically turned into a woman; the confusion shown by the pirate when he misunderstands what might happen to him if he disturbs the Captain's enjoyment of his female captive; and the expression on the village sweetheart's face as everybody cheers in the final coronation scene. If you enjoy the prospect of a world next to ours where evil princes seek the crown, wicked witches seek eternal beauty, and a young man seeks his own true love, then you will be moved by this tale of what happens when stars are brought to earth..Score: 5/5
