The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas documents in rousing song and dance a new Texas Legend, which now joins the Alamo as a historical institution immortalized in story, song, book, play and movie. The demise of the real-life Chicken Ranch inspired the musical stage play, and now the big screen version stars Burt Reynolds as Sheriff Ed Earl Dodd and Dolly Parton as the Chicken Ranch's proprietress, Miss Mona. The two join together not only in romance, but to fight big city TV crusader Melvin P. Thorpe (Dom DeLuise) in his efforts to expose the Chicken Ranch to public scandal, and thus close it down.

Good movie for both sidesIf your a fan of the 80's movies and grew up watching them, this is a good movie for you. It has its weak and strong points like any movie but it should be a great movie for the guys and the gals that can appreciate a classic. My favorite part and to me, what makes the movie worth watching in the first place is when Reynolds goes off on Deluise in the town square. You'll know the part when you see it.....Score: 4/5
Must see. . . musical camp at its finestIf there's ever a role made for dolly parton its one that requires telling a governor, a preacher, a sheriff, and a whole darn town to go to hell. . . in the most angelic voice you ever did hear. burt reynolds isn't bad in this one, either (to my surprise), but the real casting gems are dom deluise as melvin p thorpe, tv evangelist, and charles durning as the governor. durning's 'sidestep' number alone is reason enough to download. for the tv fans, jim nabors narrates throughout and serves as deputy fred, reynolds' right hand man and theresa merrit appears as jewel, the right hand to dolly's miss mona, and a sort of den mother to the chicken house girls. the film and score have aged pretty well. bottom line: if you haven't seen it. . . do. especially if you love musicals..Score: 5/5
It's an Unexpeted Amazing...My parents turned me onto this movie, and it has quickly become one of my favorites! It's an absolute riot, and I love every minute of it! Dolly does not disapoint, and Burt compliments her quite well when they're "sneakin' around." All around wonderful movie!.Score: 5/5
