Andy Stitzer has a pleasant life with a nice apartment and a job stamping invoices at an electronics store. But at age 40, there's one thing Andy hasn't done, and it's really bothering his sex-obsessed male co-workers: Andy is still a virgin. Determined to help Andy get laid, the guys make it their mission to de-virginize him. But it all seems hopeless until Andy meets small business owner Trish, a single mom.

Apatow's BestBy watching this, you can imagine why Apatow shortly followed with Talladega Nights, Knocked Up, and Superbad, not to mention countless others. Apatow truly is America's comedian, and deserves all the credit he recieves. And boy does this film prove his comedic brilliance. This is the film that brought Steve Carell, Seth Rogen, and Paul Rudd out into the open. Sure you had probably heard of Carell from his awesome scene from Bruce Almighty, and you probably remember Rudd from Friends. Rogen, despite having his role in Freaks and Geeks, was not well-known. This is the film that made all three stars. Now, whenever I want to see a comedy, knowing that one of these actors is in it helps drive me. And with Apatow at the helm, it couldn't be better. Honestly? Just OK.This is not one of the better comedies to add to your movie collection. It's quite average. Steve Carell is humorous in his naive and ignorant approach to the events in this movie to the point where it shows he has heart. The other characters falling apart around Steve show a humorous example of relationship conflicts taken to the extreme.
Nevertheless there's no truly genius moments of the movie. Between the short time I spent actually laughing at this film, i caught myself engaged in the plot, though I was never truly intrigued. Unfortunately, when you remember the movie is supposed to be humorous, it stops being engaging and becomes "just cinema."
