Anna Scott (Julia Roberts) is the world's most famous movie star. William Thacker (Hugh Grant) owns a travel bookstore in the quaint neighborhood of Notting Hill. When their paths cross, the couple comes to face the ultimate question: can two people fall in love with the whole world watching?

William Thacker is a London bookstore owner whose humdrum existence is thrown into romantic turmoil when famous American actress Anna Scott appears in his shop. A chance encounter over spilled orange juice leads to a kiss that blossoms into a full-blown affair. As the average bloke and glamorous movie star draw closer and closer together, they struggle to reconcile their radically different lifestyles in the name of love.

Smart and hilarious...This is one of my favourite comedies of all time. Yes, yes Julia Roberts is playing a version of herself and Hugh Grant is playing the shy, stuttering soft spoken character-type he is known for....BUT this film has so much more going on than that. It exposes our obsession with celebrity, exposes celebrities as plain, ordinary people and makes us all drop all of our pretenses. This film is heart-warming and genuine with so many laugh-out-loud moments that you'll rate it as one of your favourite comedies as well. In my opionion, Rhys Ifans MAKES this film. He plays the slobby and unfiltered Welsh flatmate of Hugh Grant's main character. Absolutley the best supporting comedic performance I've ever seen....pure gold..AbbyMumScore: 5/5

Beautiful and SadWatching this movie one can only imagine the loneliness of being famous, wanting to trust but knowing that so many people would put their personal gain above your best interest. I recently was watching a sports newscast after the rash of scandals in the NHL and the reporter noted that many of the things coming up about various people were from years ago when things were acceptable that are not today, he went on to question how many people in the world would pass if put under the microscope that these people are being put under. Don’t we all deserve the right to be normal? This movie made me sad for famous people as no amount of money can buy what most of us take for granted, privacy!.DadG66Score: 5/5
