Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn star in this hilarious romantic comedy about the consequences of "stretching" the truth. When architect Newton Davis' girlfriend Becky (Dana Delany) turns down his marriage proposal, his newly-built dream house suddenly becomes nothing more than an empty monument to her rejection. Housesitter Film Synopsis
After building his dream house, architect Newton Davis proposes marriage to his girlfriend, only to be summarily rejected. He seeks solace in a one-night stand with a waitress, never imagining that a woman he slept with once would end up posing as his wife. Gwen's ruse is so effective that by the time Newton learns of his "marriage," the entire town feels like they know him.

Manipulative woman cons a rubeThis is supposed to be cute and fun and perhaps from a woman's perspective it's great, but Hawn's character is manipulative, insensitive and repulsive. There's a reason the film bombed at the box office. Men thought they'd be seeing a Steve Martin film but what they got wa a Godlie Hawn film. All but two of her films have bombed, as did this one. Love at first sight!!!This is one of the funniest movies ever!! It has everything you could want out of a romantic comedy; Goldie Hawn, Steve Martin, a great idea, and great humor!! A classic that can not be missed. I loved it when my Nonna showed it to me on a lazy afternoon. I love it now. I will still love it in 5,10,15,20 years and as long as I live. The comedy is perfectly balanced, not to subtle, and NOT stuffed down your throat. Show it to anyone with a sense of humor and you will not regret it!! Sorry for being so cheerful! lol P.S. One of the cutest Rom Coms, they don’t make them like this anymore!Goldie is truly such an icon, she has so many amazing movies I’m rediscovering as a now adult. Audio Problems.This is a cute movie but the quality of the HD version is disappointing — not only are the images no better than when television came in a square box, but the audio does not allow the viewer to turn any thing up (or down).
