This digital-video biopic uses the life of journalist, record mogul and club owner Tony Wilson to frame the story of the Manchester, England, music scene from the heyday of punk through the late-'80s "Madchester" era. Wilson (Steve Coogan) was an ambitious but frustrated local TV news reporter looking for a way to make his mark. After witnessing a life-changing concert by an unknown band known as the Sex Pistols, he persuades his station to televise one of their performances, and soon Manchester's punk groups are clamoring for him to manage them. As the founder of staunchly independent Factory Records, Wilson shepherded the careers of doomed post-punk combo Joy Division, synth-pop superstars New Order and hedonistic louts the Happy Mondays. Along the way, he helped bring rave culture to Britain under the aegis of the legendary Hacienda nightclub. 24 Hour Party People follows Wilson from his conversion to punk at a seminal Sex Pistols concert through the suicide of Joy Division singer Ian Curtis, the overwhelming success of New Order and the eventual dissolution of the Factory empire thanks to bad business decisions, underworld ties and the hedonistic excess of the Happy Mondays. Packed with an incredible soundtrack and a famous cast of characters, 24 Hour Party People is a sprawling, energetic, and humorous history of one of the most important periods in modern music.

The Best Rockumentary Ever!Well, sort of. It's a brilliant mix of rock lore re-enactments mixed with actual events interpreted by a truly brilliant cast. More importantly, it's a history lesson of the now legendary Manchester scene that runs the gamut from punk to post punk to the birth of the rave. Funny, salty, sweet and bitter all at once. If you were too young to be there or just wish you could relive it in a few hours, this is a real winner. Deutsch Erzählt wird anhand von Fakten und verfilmten Gerüchten die Entwicklung der Musikszene von Manchester von den späten 1970er Jahren bis zum Jahr 1997. Die zentrale Figur im Film ist Tony Wilson, der den Zuschauer durch den Film führt und sich des Öfteren kommentierend zur Kamera hinwendet. Zentrale Motive der Handlung sind die Entstehung und Entwicklung des Musiklabels Factory Records sowie der involvierten Bands. Die erste Hälfte des Films beschäftigt sich dabei vor allem mit Joy Division / New Order, die zweite Hälfte mit den Happy Mondays, wobei auch andere Bands aus dem behandelten Umfeld, wie A Certain Ratio und The Durutti Column dargestellt werden. Mehrere Personen, wie Tony Wilson selbst, Howard Devoto von den Buzzcocks, Mark E. Smith von The Fall und viele andere haben kleine Auftritte am Rand der Handlung.

Michael Winterbottom's largely improvised 2010 film, The Trip, took comedians Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon—or semifictionalized versions thereof—on a restaurant tour around northern England. In this witty and incisive follow-up, Winterbottom reunites the pair for a new culinary road trip, retracing the steps of the Romantic poets' grand tour of Italy and indulging in some sparkling banter and impersonation-offs. Rewhetting our palates from the earlier film, the characters enjoy mouthwatering meals in gorgeous settings from Liguria to Capri while riffing on subjects as varied as Batman's vocal register, the artistic merits of "Jagged Little Pill," and, of course, the virtue of sequels. The South Asia Bureau Chief for the Wall Street Journal, Daniel Pearl, was in Pakistan with his pregnant wife, Mariane, when he set out to conduct one last interview for an upcoming article; the pair were due to fly back home to the U.S. shortly thereafter. By all accounts, it was the same type of interview he had conducted a hundred times before, and though the only concern that Daniel had voiced beforehand was that he might be a bit late for dinner, it would soon become obvious that something had gone horribly awry. Trishna (Frieda Pinto) lives with her family in a village in Rajasthan, India's largest state. As the eldest daughter, she works in a nearby resort to help pay the bills. Code 46 is a love story set in an eerily possible near-future where cities are heavily controlled and only accessible through checkpoints. People cannot travel unless they have "papelles," a special travel insurance. Outside these cities, the desert has taken over and shanty towns are jammed with non-citizens - people without papelles whose lives are severely restricted. William (Robbins) is a family man who works as an insurance investigator. When his company sends him to another city to solve a case of fake papelles, he meets a woman named Maria (Morton). Although he knows she has been creating the forgeries, he falls completely in love with her. He hides her crime and they have a wild, passionate affair that can only last as long as his papelles: 24 hours. Back home, William is obsessed with the memory of Maria. He tries to see her but is refused the necessary papers to travel. Desperate, he uses one of the fake papelles he kept from his investigation. He eventually tracks her down, only to discover she has been accused of a Code 46 violation.
