Wonderful rhythmI read about this movie in the New York Times recently --- I didn't know it was even in the movie theaters. I thought the movie had a wonderful rhythm and all the characters and their emotions/reactions were authentic. Anna Paquin and J. Smith Cameron were amazing. I especially enjoyed the interludes throughout of people walking on the streets of New York. Český Margaret je energická dívka s běžnými problémy, bezpočtem snů, pro její věk typickou hašteřivostí i schopností hluboké empatie. Vše dobré ale roztříští nehoda, která zasáhne do jejího života, zatímco samotné vypodobení tragédie poznamená náladu celého filmu. Režisér tak dosahuje toho, že vedle protagonistky si nese břímě i publikum, které tak lépe vstřebá následné nejednoznačné události. Během nich se Margaret snaží se skutečností srovnat a alespoň částečně obnovit svou dřívější bezstarostnost. Živelnou dívku zaskočila nejen tíha zodpovědnosti, ale i náhlá ztráta potěšení, které mívala z komunikace s jinými lidmi. Snímek s mimořádným citem pro detail i s vědomím, že součástí dramatu nejsou jen exponované situace, ale také chvíle ticha a nejistoty, staví příběh nevyrovnané dívky, kterou však nelze odsuzovat. Díky celkové pečlivosti a pochopení pro postavy jsou tváře v závěrečné scéně víc než figurami v dramatu. Jsou živé. (47th KVIFF)
