A dim-witted yet kind-hearted boxer, Terry Malloy, who failed to succeed unintentionally lures a man to his death after being tricked by a criminal called Johnny Friendly whose men pick of every man who has the courage to speak up to their crimes. As he works on the waterfronts that Friendly owns, he is sent to a church meeting run by a good preacher about how to deal with the problem and runs into the dead man’s sister. Slowly, he falls in love with her and begins to feel guilt about his crime.

Grain OhrammaThis is considered to be one of the top American films ever made but the print offered here on itunes is loaded with grain. Almost like watching those wretched copies on you tube.
The sound is just adequate as well. I have my imac turned up all the way and the sound is just adequate.
I've researched the aspect ratio which seemed odd for a film from this era but it turns out the studio struck prints in multiple aspect ratios to satisfy theatre owners who had not modified their screens to the coming wide screen formats.

The carrier was an illegal alien, murdered by criminals Jack Palance and Zero Mostel. When local officials note the strange condition of the corpse, they fear that the germs will spread to epidemic proportions, and thus summon Reed to wrest control of the situation. At first facing opposition from rule-bound police captain Paul Douglas, Widmark is finally able to work hand-in-glove with Douglas in tracking down Palance and Mostel, who have themselves become plague carriers.
