It's bad.I hope you read the book, because you will get nothing from this. It's dark, can't ever see anything. It's a worthless stint of a story without the background. There is three minutes towards the end where you ever really see a connection between these two. Not worth the other hour whatever just for that. An ugly place, an ugly story, and the rotten ending that some ugly people keep hoping for. It's a bad movie..Score: 1/5
Amazing; as dark and intense as Bronte's novelThis is the best adaptation I've seen of Emily Bronte's book and the first that seemed to accurately portray her writing. The reviews that mention the film being too dark, cruel, etc. must not be familiar with this story. Arnold doesn't stray away from the brutality of the book and for the first time I felt like I was watching the sort of adaptation that this classic novel deserves. Beautiful cinematography, quality acting--amazing movie..Score: 5/5
Not finishedI have to say I liked where the director was goin somewhat with this but I just don't feel like it was complete. Like someone over chopped on the editing table or what. I don't know but the whole movie pretty much was filled with impressions on what was going on. I felt like this movie should have been longer. If you hadn't read the book than I think you would have gotten a whole different story goin. The emotion was there though and passion. Sooooo much potential. I feel like she may have run out of time or money or something. I wish I would have seen more of the connection between the older Kathrine and Heathcliff. And More dialogue was needed. I don't think she made good use of the cast she had. The visuals were stunning and worked well. I feel the director got who these character's were but just couldn't follow through with portraying it to the audience in this movie. Is there a director's cut cause I needs some answers..Score: 3/5

Hang yourself firstDo not watch this miserable waste of 2 hours of your short life. Dark, sordid, cruel, sadistic, and I pray those animals were not needlessly hurt in the making of this trashy film. I will make sure I never watch another movie from any of the people involved in this awful awful film. No words to say how horrible it was. I'd sooner watch a dracula movie. Cannot purge my head of this soon enough. I'd like to give it a minus 100 star rating but I'm afraid in order to post this I might have to give it a star..Score: 1/5
SO DARK, IT'S NO LONGER HUMAN.I really wanted to like this movie. But it was too full of abuse and contempt and all the terrible things about the story with not enough of the good to make it the least bit likable. The appalling animal cruelty in the film should be mentioned before watching, as a disclaimer. The only thing likable was the natural, wilderness of the English countryside. But sadly, the director had nothing to do with that except aiming her camera at it. The actors might have been better had the screenplay allowed for some real character development. The movie, obviously trying to portray a more realistic, raw, wild rendering of the classic novel, remains incomplete. There is a light side AND a dark side to this story and life, in general. But this film was shot entirely in the shadows of perhaps it's more material ambitions, One hint? The oblique 'boogie-nights' 1970s style font during the credits. Its no wonder they chose not to use the same font on the 'cover' art, as seen above. I could keep going, but I don't like to spend too much time on negativity. And I have nothing positive to say, unfortunately. I think, after watching it all the way through, I at least deserve a few lines of modestly worded disappointment..Score: 1/5
