Sister Act Description

Relive all the fun, laughter and irresistible music of Sister Act – the inspired comedy hit that packed pews everywhere! Whoopi Goldberg stars as a sassy, low-rent lounge singer forced to hide out from the mob in the last place anyone would ever look for her – a convent. While she's there, her irreverent behavior attracts a flock of faithful followers and turns the nuns' tone-deaf choir into a soulful chorus of swingin' singin' sisters. But when the group earns rave reviews, her sudden celebrity jeopardizes her hidden identity. Harvey Keitel and Kathy Najimy join a heavenly cast in this habit-forming comedy bursting with 60's Motown hits.
Sister Act is about a Reno lounge singer named Deloris Van Carter who witnesses her mobster boyfriend killing an employee. She is then hidden in a convent under a witness protection program. She soon makes friends with the nuns, especially Sister Mary Robert, Sister Mary Lazuras and Sister Mary Patrick. After the Mother Superior catches Deloris going out to a bar in the night followed by Mary Robert and Mary Patrick, she orders her to join the church choir. Only to find her coaching the choir and turning them into swingin' singin' sisters. The choir proves to be a big success with the surrounding neighborhood, but will Deloris' boyfriend track her down...
A Reno singer witnesses a mob murder and the cops stash her in a nunnery to protect her from the hitmen. The mother superior does not trust her, and takes steps to limit her influence on the other nuns. Eventually the singer rescues the failing choir and begins helping with community projects, which gets her an interview on TV.

Sister Act Movie Reviews

  • From when Whoopi was funny,...

This is a good movie, back when whoopi was actually funny and less political. Now she is just a fat leftist slob promoting the progressive movement on "The View." I liked her back when the movie was made. When she became a political mouth puppet for progressivism, I wanted nothing more to do with her.

The nuns in this movie sort of look like the one from the sound of music only for Julie Andrews (not in this movie) to play Maria a nun wish she would have cause she did it in the sound of music so as you can see how it kind a relates to it in a way only then nun part

I have loved this movie since I saw it almost every Sunday as a kid back on Channel 11. I have always loved and missed Whoopi Goldberg because of her role/character/inspiration in this film. This film is funny, entertaining as hell (ooops), and all around a great story to include love, religion, hope, faith, frienship, trust, etc. If you hate it, so be it but it is not a terrible film at all. Thank you for this film Whoopi and all others responsible.
