Much Ado About Nothing Film Synopsis
In this Shakespearean farce, Hero and her groom-to-be, Claudio, team up with Claudio's commanding officer, Don Pedro, the week before their wedding to hatch a matchmaking scheme. Their targets are sharp-witted duo Benedick and Beatrice -- a tough task indeed, considering their corresponding distaste for love and each other. Meanwhile, meddling Don John plots to ruin the wedding.

WonderfulThis is a sweet movie version of this comedy. It is very funny, and I liked the staging quite a lot. The actors have very american pronunciation, but I thought that fit the modern staging quite well. I'm a fan of all things Joss Whedon, and it's great to see all these actors from Dollhouse and Firefly in this movie!.Augias84Score: 5/5
Brilliant BardFor those who complain that you "don't understand the language" (Sushi, I'm looking at you), this adaptation reminds me how vibrant and alive our language is. Just like you tune your ear to understand rap, you tune your ear to understand the Bard. But Sir William has something Jay-Z or Missy E don't: an understanding of human behavior. Love, jealousy, revenge, passion and buffoonery are all universal and timeless behaviors. In Mr Whedon's film, they are beautifully executed.
Rather than complain that you don't understand the language, elevate yourself, step up. There is a world of beauty and truth waiting, and 'Much Ado' captures it all..NvannelloScore: 5/5

So goodThis was really fun to watch. I am looking forward to watching it again! Many levels of goodness here, first the writing duh this is The Bard as comedian poking fun at human foibles and egos. Then the players, many familiar faces among them, plying their craft at it's purest, filing in the director's home, in modern garb but staying true to the Elizabethan English....clearly this was a lot of fun to make, and it is a lot of fun to watch..BaruchZedScore: 5/5

Not enough WhedonI wanted to love this movie because I absolutely love Joss Whedon, and I have loved many modern Shakespeare interpretations. But one of Whedon's clear strengths is amazing dialogue. The fact that he didn't get to write any of it made this unrecognizable as a Whedon movie...except for the actor choices. It was amusing to watch his character archetypes we all know and love do Shakespeare, but that was only entertaining for about 15 minutes. The rest of the movie was just tedious. Nederlands Jonge geliefden Hero en Claudio zullen binnen een week gaan trouwen. Om de tijd te doden zetten ze samen met Don Pedro een val op voor Benedick, een arrogante vrijgezel, en Beatrice, zijn favoriete sparringpartner. Ondertussen probeert de slechte Don Jon het huwelijk dwars te bomen door Hero vals te beschuldigen. Op het eind blijkt het allemaal 'veel gedoe om niks' te zijn.

Dansk Kenneth Branaghs energiske filmatisering af en Shakespeares mindre vigtige skuespil er lige så uimodståelig, som historien er ligegyldig. Det unge par Hero (en meget ung Kate Beckinsale) og Claudio (Robert Sean Leonard) skal giftes. For at fordrive tiden rotter de sig sammen med Don Pedro (Denzel Washington), i et forsøg på at få den evige ungkarl Benedick (Kenneth Branagh himself) til at falde for Beatrice (Emma Thompson), der nægter at lade sig tæmme af nogen mand. Det er en stor udfordring! Samtidigt forsøger den onde Don John (en perfekt Keanu Reeves) at ødelægge Hero og Claudios kommende bryllup.
