Academy Award® winner for Best Original Screenplay! From Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation) comes an original love story that explores the evolving nature and risks of intimacy in the modern world. Set in the Los Angeles of the slight future, Her follows Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix), a complex, soulful man who makes his living writing touching, personal letters for other people. Heartbroken after the end of a long relationship, he becomes intrigued with a new, advanced operating system. Upon initiating it, he is delighted to meet “Samantha” (Scarlett Johansson), a bright, female voice who is insightful, sensitive and surprisingly funny. As her needs and desires grow in tandem with his own, their friendship deepens into an eventual and unconventional love for each other.
Alone in the mountains of Switzerland, Anne discovers that her isolated chalet is on surveillance and has been bugged. Caught up by her former life as an intelligence secret agent and an affair with her handler, Anne can only count on herself to get out alive.

I love Her"Her" is the perfect representation of what we as a society have become when it comes to our reliance and our "relationships" with technology. I enjoyed this movie thoroughally, mostly because I'm one of those people who enjoys complex movies that make a statement about our society. The main character of the movie, Theodore, soon falls in love with his iOS operating system after realizing that she's more real than he expected. In a way, the movie is sickening in the way that the main character, as normal to us as he may seem, is sick in the way that he feels about his system. This futuristic film will make you think twice about what we are becoming as a society and if we will ever become what the film shows..Score: 4/5

This Movie is Creepy But Has a Good Human Ending. This is more of a taste thing but the whole story was creepy to me. Its not a bad movie or poorly executed but rather sad as in the person its about. Sad in the way that this creepy and lonely guy seems slightly delusional and out of touch with reality who finds a computer operating system attractive. Sure it acts human and has a personality that adapts, learns, and grows but its not human. The ending of the movie is the best part. A spectacular standoutI saw this two years after it was first released, but still believe that it is the best film I have EVER saw. Joaquin Phoenix was the absolute perfect person to play Theodore; I can't see anyone else playing him. All of the casting was perfect. From the filming, to the phenomenal soundtrack, this film is absolutely sublime. 'Her' shows us how technology impacts our lives is quite phenomenal. It's completely refreshing and revolutionizing to see how our world may be in the near future, and I think that 'Her' is a very accurate representation. Not being a softie myself at all, I found myself tearing up at the end- it was an extremely emotional movie full of humor, sadness, loss, and acceptance- leaving me to have an existential crisis. All in all, I strongly believe everyone should see this movie..Score: 5/5
Timely, provocative and moving4.5 stars. Smart, wise, moving, by turns pretty funny and very sad. If you see it only as a love-and-robots movie, you're totally missing the point. On the surface, yes, it's a cautionary tale about our increasing absorption in the digital world at the cost of our already limited capacities to form meaningful relationships in the real one. That's a great message for a society where people are forgetting how to speak to or make eye contact with one another because we're all too busy fiddling with our handheld devices. But on a deeper level this movie is really about the difficulties of human relationships, not computer ones -- that's just the operating surface metaphor, and a darn clever and timely one. Jonze's Oscar-winning screenplay does a great job of weaving those two lines. It's also interesting that all the guys are nerds and all the females (including the computerized one) aggressive and take-charge. Not sure if that makes this a feminist or an anti-feminist story, but it does make it an intriguing one. The cast is excellent. Things drag a little toward the end, but then Jonze adds a few more plot points for a very successful and very thought-provoking conclusion. Anyone who has loved and lost and lived to try again will feel what this movie is really about. It'll stick with you for a long time..Score: 4/5

Extremely disappointing despite the hype...Awards, high ratings, positive reviews and an interesting subject matter really had my expectations high for this film. Unfortunately, it falls short in many areas. The main character isn’t very likeable, nor is the AI that he falls in love with. Technology-minded audiences will be frustrated with the technical shortcoming as well - from the constant use of an ‘earpiece’ (as a plot device) to where the AI is upset about her inability to manifest herself to the main character - and yet the main character plays an advanced VR-like 3D game system, and she makes no attempt to use it. The AI fails to deal with many aspects of human-computer interaction that you would expect. Instead showing advanced understanding of complex interaction early on, only to regress later on in the film. When it came to a physical relationship, the director had the opportunity to explore some great issues, but instead made it more about base instincts. I don’t feel this film was made for an intelligent audience, and I was quite disappointed..Score: 1/5
Most boring and depressing movie everWith all the hype I rented this and had to walk away after 45 minutes. I myself quite enjoyed this movie. The futuristic storyline made for a unique film, the character selection was perfect, and to be honest the story itself is one that can very easily touch someone. If you’ve been in situations the main character goes through, it isn’t hard for those emotions to connect and produce some relation. All in all I loved the movie.
