Academy Award winner Jim Broadbent (Iris) and Lindsay Duncan (About Time) give exquisite performances as Nick and Meg, a long-married British couple revisiting Paris for the first time since their honeymoon in an attempt to rekindle their relationship. During a two-day escapade, wistful Nick and demanding Meg careen from harmony to strife to resignation and back as they take stock of a lifetime of tenderness and regret. A surprise invitation from Nick’s old friend Morgan (Jeff Goldblum), a hilariously boorish academic with a newly published book and fancy Parisian digs, soon leads them to an unexpectedly hopeful vision of what their love and marriage might still become.Directed by Roger Michell (Notting Hill) and written by longtime collaborator Hanif Kureishi (Venus, My Beautiful Launderette), this magically buoyant, bittersweet film is at once brutally honest, sharply comedic, and undeniably romantic.
Nick and Meg Burrows return to Paris, the city where they honeymooned, to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary and rediscover some romance in their long-lived marriage. The film follows the couple as long-established tensions in their marriage break out in humorous and often painful ways.

Uncomfortable to watchI like all of the actors, and I'm a fan of dramatic comedies. But watching Le Week-End felt like watching dinner guests argue. Uncomfortable. Unpleasant. And, I decided after more than an hour of viewing time, unnecessary. I turned it off, and felt better..Score: 2/5

Pathetic - Romantic it’s notNot only is there nothing uplifting about this film, there very little that’s even redeeming. The attempts at humor are shallow. There are some moments where the tenderness seems genuine but going back and forth frequently between that and hateful and degrading interaction brings to mind a bi-polar character. The direction can’t make up its mind what it’s trying to portray. Don’t waste your time on this one..Score: 1/5
Unsympathetic charactersIn the end, you just don’t care about the two protagonists. They come across as whinging losers; so “in touch with their unhappiness” you wonder why they don’t jump off a bridge. Sure, life’s hard; you don’t always get what you want, etc., but wishing you’d done something else, been somebody else, etc. is fairly pathetic behaviour that just doesn’t deserve a sympathetic response..Score: 2/5
Uneven and Doesn’t Come TogetherHas sweet intentions, but the film is ultimately uneven and doesn't quite come together. The acting is fairly good, with Jeff Goldblum being the scene-stealer, however the pace and writing is really what works against it being a better movie. Not worth seeing in theaters, but maybe a rental on a Sunday afternoon, but you will need very low expectations to enjoy it..Score: 2/5
Wasted my time watching on a 13 hour flight!!!I watched this movie during a 13 hour flight and I still thought that it was a waste of my time. The main characters switch so quickly from being romantic to total disgust with each other, that their emotions don't seem real in either side. By the end, I really could not care what was the outcome and I didn't care about their miserable marriage. Even when the acting is good, the story line falters and is quite depressing..Score: 1/5
Not French Film but sure feels like itNot because it’s set there, but the characters and story are tres French!
