Miguel (Michael Peña) is a hardworking father and devoted husband wrongfully accused of murdering the wife of a former sheriff (Ed Harris) after he illegally crosses the U.S. border. In an effort to help her husband, Miguel’s pregnant wife (Eva Longoria) also attempts a crossing, but finds herself in the clutches of corrupt Mexican “Coyote” smugglers. The three find their lives intertwined as the ex-lawman investigates his wife’s death and unearths evidence that could destroy one family’s future, while saving the lives of the young couple. His discovery forces all sides to examine the complex issues of immigration and human trafficking that deeply affect the U.S. and Mexico. "Frontera" shows that while a border might divide the two countries, it can’t divide human decency.

Very Human Story.A very human depiction of life on Americas southern border this movie deals some with immigration, some with race, some with violence, and some with loss. If you are looking for a political documentary, or a macro look at the immigration this is not it. If you want a very human drama set against the border and illegal immigration, you will love this film..Score: 5/5

Very Pleasantly SurprisedWithout a doubt one of the best movies I have watched in a long time. The type of movie I hope to make one day. The direction, the cinematography, the acting, locations, set decoration, everything from A-Z keeps you in the movie and the story the whole time. The A, B & C story lines are all played out with great human emotion. Ed Harris is phenomenal as usual, as is Michael Pena and I am now an Eva Longoria fan. A powerful and entertaining film.I was lucky to catch this film at the USA Film Festival this spring. The performances are terrific and it’s beautifully shot. It’s a powerful, moving and very exciting murder mystery that takes place on the Mexico/USA border. It deals with hard immigration issues in a smart, engaging and non-political way.
