Empire is a powerful drama about a family dynasty set within the glamorous and sometimes dangerous world of hip-hop music. The founder, Lucious Lyon, is the king of hip-hop, but his company and reign are constantly threatened by his family, including his ex-wife, Cookie Lyon; his sons, Jamal, Hakeem and Andre; and a volatile and competitive music industry.

Severe EyebrowsToo ridiculous a show for words, but I just had to get this off my chest--Tarji's eyebrows are arched waaaay too high, and it gives her cute round/heart-shaped face an extremely "hard" look and roughness. And it is a shame, because she is a rather attractive coloured woman, though she could be "sexy" too if she lost about 30 lbs instead of wearing girdles that at times I can see the imprint. Often in her scenes back when I actually watched a few episodes from Season 1 (couldn't stomach anymore), her eyebrows almost gave her a madwoman-in-the-snakepit look, like she is suffering from TMJ. And the Lucious character is, well, interestingly played--but he is not convincing as a "tough" guy. Hell, I saw him in a cop mystery series and seriously thought he was an LGBTQ type--which is fine if he is or whatever, I just feel producers should get a heterosexual to play a heterosexual, since Empire hired gays to play gays--seems like a fair practise..Score: 1/5
