It’s Colonial Day – a holiday celebrating the establishment of the Twelve Colonies – the first Colonial Day since the Cylon attacks. Laura Roslin insists on celebration because she believes that upholding traditions will inspire people to embrace the future. Also, she has other ambitions for the day. With her own health uncertain, she knows she must choose a successor and Colonial Day will be an ideal time to announce her candidate for Vice President. The celebration is held on the "Cloud Nine," a luxury ship which offers all of the amenities of a five star hotel – pools, spas, lush gardens, etc. Surviving representatives from each of the twelve colonies are sent to the ship to help elect a Vice-President, though Laura assumes it won't be much trouble to get her choice, Wallace Gray, pushed through. Dr. Baltar is one of Caprica's delegates while a familiar face represents Sagittarian: Tom Zarek. Zarek, the political prisoner from episode three (Bastille Day), has always proved popular in Sagittarian, even if many see him as a terrorist (even a 'rehabilitated one.') Zarek is of course, ready for the limelight and when he arrives to meet and greet the press, he's all smiles and politically correct sound-bites. Laura immediately knows Zarek could be a big problem..

Best Drama on TVThere isn't a single show on TV right now that can offer a sliver of the drama you can find on BSG. Socially relevant, politcally timely, and undeniably stirring, the show is impossible to ignore. The acting is absolutely incredible and the stories are taut and moving. Surprised, really.So I took a chance on this one. Going through a dry spell with tv shows and movies I decided to watch a few episodes. Overall I would say this is a vrey good series. The casting is great and the plot is very good. Not the best CGI but that is not why I am watching. Actors do a good job as well. So if you are a sci-fi and BSG fan you will love it. Good drama set in science fiction arenaI like sci fi, but i think people who like drama would like it too. Watch the miniseries first and if you like it, season 1 is even better. Mini-series came first!Ok I see reviews giving a low rating because it makes no sense in the beginning and thinking they missed some episodes. You did. This started as a mini-series which was then made into a proper series starting with season 1. The mini-series introduces everything and makes it make waaay more sense. Frakking Awesome!I have watched this show about 4 times now if not more, I have met a bunch of the cast at cons and I still love it. There is nothing else out there that can replace it for me. The layers of interactions, the ethical dilemmas and though provoking nature of the plot will hook you! fabulously acted and written. If you haven't watched this show, do yourself a favour and do it. Amazing - For all Stargate - Star Trek FansIt is really good - but I am interrested in purchasing the rest of the seasons. Battlestar galactica all seriesThe show is amazing...my one star rating is the price that itunes is charging for downloading the series...its too much people! Shop around for a better deal than this. Modern day classicOne of the best TV series to be made. The only tv drama that I've ever watched through more than once. You don't have to be a fan of SCI-FI to enjoy this, there are no aliens, no teleorter-dimension jumping and no time travel events. Best In ClassDon't let the spaceships or the camp original get to you, Battlestar Galactica could quite possibly be one of the best dramas ever made ever. Manages to be topical, interesting and realistic, even if it deals in science fiction and some fantastical themes throughout. Some people felt the later episodes lost focus, but hang in to the end and it'll be worth it and some of the most rewarding tv around. Such a great story. I skipped the mini series and just started with episode 1, 33. I learnt the characters and themes through the show, and only went back to the mini series as a filler after series 2. Recommend that, the mini series isn't a great introduction, ironically..Score: 5/5
Watch this season...it is all downhill from here!Season 1 is great. Great plots, wonderful themes and some very good acting. Unfortunately, I suspect the analogies and "messaging" are a bit too sophisticated for the average American viewer--a frequent problem when productions use a combination of British and American writers, producers and actors. The writers and producers may think this show is a wonderful commentary on America's War on Terror and the debasement of civil liberties in the quest to "preserve society", but I wonder how many people have picked up on that. One other reason to watch Season 1--it is all downhill from here. After Season 1, the series degenerates into a soap opera. Indeed, if I had stopped after Season 1 I might have agreed that BSG was one of the greatest TV shows ever produced. Sadly, Seasons 2, 3 and 4 transformed it into another show made for a fringe network with a viewership smaller than Judge Judy..Score: 4/5
