Amazing!!!There better be a second season or I will be depressed. Such an amazing story and cast! I'm addicted..Score: 5/5

You can tell who dies by whether the actor is ethnic or not/oldThank God MTV didn't get rights to produce Game of Thrones. You can tell that the executives MTVized the Shannara storyline to appeal to young, unsophisticated audiences. But because the audience is so young and have lower standards for entertainment, this show will probably still succeed. The use of modern music in this show is distracting and takes one out of the fantasy realm, dialogue is very basic, it has a soap opera for teenage girls storyline, and you can tell who is going to get killed in the show by whether the actor they cast is ethnic or old....Score: 1/5

How about putting out the episode before the featuretteThe show for a show is enjoyable, but can we please, please put out the episode, before the featurette, for anyone that has looked at the title of the 5th featurette, well what more do I need to say, episode, then featurette, not featurette, then a week later the episode.Score: 3/5

Wanted to like itI lasted 7 episodes, which was sometimes very difficult not to turn off. The writing is terrible, so the dialogue and acting is also lacking. The two female leads are stereotypical Disney princesses trying to get the main guy to like them. One episode he's with one of them & next episode the other. The only positives are the special effects, locations, & costumes/make-up..Score: 1/5

Game of Thrones meets The HobbitA nice taste of many of the great parts of the worlds of elves, goblins, demons and magic. Love it..Score: 5/5

Cliche-riddenI'm finding it hard to stay interested in a show that covers all of the cliche bases. What could've been a great fantasy series is melted down to cheese deluxe. With teen hormones and angst at the forefront and dialogue you've seen and heard a million times in countless shows, it doesn't break new ground at all. The monsters all look like ones you've seen in movies and video games. Not even John Rhys-Davies can save it. Shape changer disguised as the king hugs his son and the cliche eye change during the hug, just to remind you that yes, he's a demon shape shifter and not the king--as if we didn't already know. The show treats us like we've never been to this rodeo before and I wish there was new ground broken, but it's pedestrian all the way. Maybe it's because I've read so many books in the 70's and 80's with the same basic story. For once I wish the formula would change. Flying demons that scream at the camera for no apparent reason. A boy who has powerful magic but doesn't know how to use it and can't figure out how to use the magic stones effectively (when we all know the stones have nothing to do with it, he doesn't need them). And of course, being a show in today's society, we can't leave out the homosexual themes. Ugh. I have to force myself to watch the rest of the season because I bought it..Score: 2/5

Poor work, despite top notch source materialI had high hopes for this show, but each episode became progressively worse. In the end, I was only watching because I'd paid for the season. Fool me once... I will not purchase remaining seasons of such poor quality work. Somehow, this project has distilled an excellent work of fantasy into something that misses every mark. I would expect that Terry Brooks would have had more say in things, but I don't see his genius anywhere in this particular rendition of the story. The scripting is cheap and pulls on obvious strings rather than taking any interesting risks. The acting is passable, but hardly impressive. Manu Bennett is the only actor with range, although Ivana Baquero does well and shows great potential. The rest of the cast is just overacting and not engaging. The set, scenery, and costumes are very good, and they are my only reason for a second star. I realize that, at 45, I am not the audience for an MTV production. It IS good to expose a younger audience to high fantasy they may not have seen, but that doesn't mean that it is acceptable to dumb things down to sloppy choreography, wooden script/acting, and ill-timed sexy moments..Score: 2/5

Why was it not cancelledMaybe Kanye West is right and there is a descrimination against straight people in TV. I see no other reason that this weak, plotless series got second season, but political correctness..Score: 1/5

TerribleI am very disappointed in this TV series. I have read the book and there are only a few similarities. I don't like the new characters added to the TV series, they don't add any value to the plot. I find the main characters in the TV series whiny with poor acting. Also, I don't understand why there is so much sexual under tones and sex scenes. I guess that's how you get the younger generation to watch it. My suggestion is, don't. It's was a waste of money..Score: 1/5

GratingIf you have not read the books you might enjoy this show, but all the changes and soap opera notes were very grating. I understand that movies are not books, but the changes to the characters behaviours made no sense. Also, who climbs into a cave to have sex when surrounded by a demon army? Really? The production values were good, and the cast OK in spite of the horrible hacked up script..Score: 3/5

Simply Wonderful! It has its “TV Moments”: a bit of overacting, a bit of cheesy writing, a bit of unnecessary melodrama, but it is truly all of these things that give the show its charm! I was hooked from the first episode; all the things that could be wrong are belayed by a wonderfully engaging storyline that draws you in and makes you want to stick around! And the more you watch, the more the few cringeworthy things melt into things that endear the show to you! I simply cannot wait for more episodes! I’m so excited for this series I can’t even stand it!!!!! <3.Score: 5/5

It’s OK, despite itselfClumsy writing, inconsistent character behaviours and a performance spectrum that ranges from watery bland to overacting so spectacular that Jon Lovitz would be proud of it (“ACTING!”). And yee gods… more demons that speak a silly made-up guttoral language, although only the head guy speaks in sentences. the rest just roar like four-year-olds playing at monster. Two saving graces: One is the excellence and originality of the narrative and plot lines. The second is that I learned how to fast-forward a video on iTunes so I could skip the stupid bits.
