Top shelf! This serires knocks it out of the park. The attention to detail is beyond any movie or series I have ever seeen. To make all those actors, cars, buildings, food, music and mood the perfect 50s and 60s look took more work than 1000 of your typical shows on today. It's also a smart movie (except for the inexplicable plot foundation) which addresses the JFK issue again. There are little parts you have to be ready for, like the time Carson mentions "Camelot", which was code for the Utopia America had become. Then there was the phenomenal dance scene where they used a Big Band to play a jazzed up version of Little Brown Jug. The dancers had very cool moves I have never seen before and I probably watched every episode of Happty days. Makes me wish I had a portal like this show has..Score: 5/5

Huge DisappointmentThe show by itself is good. The reason for my 1 star only is because it completly destroy's the book. The show has almost nothing to do with the book other than the main theme. It's hard to watch great books come to life on the screen...But this adaptation of Stephen King's "11.22.63" was incredibly well done. Franco was perfect as Jake Epping, any deviations from the book were done with good reason, and I was emotionally invested in the characters by the end as I was when I first read the book. I know those who absolutely despise ANY changes to a story when adapting it to the big/small screen will probably find faults in this adaptation (as they always do). Good basic time travel idea, execution could have been betterThe first two episodes gave promise for a great time travel series, but then it fell into a series of events that were not very well connected or believable. I had to force myself to get through the bulk of the series hoping the story would pick up pace, and it does deliver in the end. The acting was good and the depiction of life in the early sixties was well done, but poor directing and story telling ruined a great time travel concept. 3 stars for the basic premise, but it could have been so much better..Score: 3/5

Can't beat the book. While I loved the scenery and how they made it really look like the late 50's early 60's, this series was somewhat disappointing. The story plot is significantly changed in order to present it on the screen including adding characters and events not in the book. Im a James Franco fan and I really like his movies but I feel the role of Jake Epping was not for him. Jake and Sadies relationship was powerful and full of emotion in the book, while it was lame and unconvincing in the series. If I hadn’t read the book first, I probably would have enjoyed the miniseries more..Score: 3/5

OutstandingMany adaptations of Stephen Kings work are always tarnished when they reach the screen albeit big or small. 11.22.63 however in my opinion was done right. Great casting, slick direction, sharp editing and an impressive budget transform your viewing into a depiction of a real life transition to the 1960's. It looks better than Back to the Future ever did with the 50's era. Set in the present, 11.22.63 tells the story of English teacher who inadvertently stumbles across a time portal and transports him back to 1960 on a quest to prevent the assassination of JFK! But somehow in all this, time itself does not want to be changed and forces try to prevent our hero from completing his quest. Most people seem to haze away from the pilot episode which starts off a little slow but the moment Jake lands in 1960, you will be glued to your screen. It’s a rare treat of entertainment. 5 very deserving stars..Score: 5/5

Don't make the same mistake I didI purchased far too quickly. I should have just bought the first episode to see if I would really enjoy it. I was disappointed by it. Though not terrible I just expected more from names like J.J. Abrams and Stephen King collaborating. However I think its main problem lies with the one who sat in the directors chair. Barely made it through the first 2 episodes. Acting is OK. James Franco may not be ideal casting but he’s not bad. Direction is terrible. Slow. Boring. Designed to stretch out the story - often with no connection to the story. Not sure I’m going to waste my time watching the rest.
