Beautiful in every way possible. Need more.This is one of the most beautifully made historical romances I’ve ever seen. I love Jane Austen adaptations, but honestly you need to accept the fact that the only thing she has to say about the book was what she started in the first 11 chapters. This show goes over so many more subplots than JA would have put in the book, but that’s what makes it all so complex and utterly enjoyable. I’m hoping for a season two, but even if it never comes, I can still take this season as “the story so far”. I’m sure the writers/producers where going for the “oh no” moment, which is something that JA was a master at. It’s like if P&P ended when Jane got engaged to Bingley and then Lydia scandalizes their family and Elizabeth has absolutely no hope of ever being with Darcy.... and then???? I think “the end” (I’m not going to call it that personally) caught everyone off guard when it first aired in Europe bc we all assumed it was going to be like a North & South sort of mini series—there and done for us to sigh over and love. But wow, there is plenty here to sigh over and love. The amazing setting and characters hook you and you want to relive, rewatch... and even become wrecked... over and over. The hero and heroine have some of the best romantic chemistry I’ve ever seen on television. And it’s just so addicting to watch them, the story—yes, over and over again..DawnwritesfirstScore: 5/5

Oh My GoshThis is definitely the saddest love story I’ve seen. This is a perfect example that somethings don’t always turn out as you want but as they should. I would have loved to see them be married and live happily ever after. I was hooked immediately, and was very disappointed 😞 not to see another season. How come the heroin didn’t get her happy ending unlike one of the other characters. Not fair 😒. Joys of JaneI absolutely love British period pieces and Andrew Davies does not disappoint creating the Regency era in all its glory with a twist. The wardrobe and scenes are lovely. The heroine is more modern and easy to relate to, yet you still see some classic Austen qualities. Every cast member gives 💯 in not only what they say but what they don’t say or what their body language communicates. The chemistry between the lead couple is like none I have seen on screen. Delightful but needs to be wrapped up!A fresh and modern yet classic Austen tale taking place in a stunning seaside resort. Characters are more than meets the eye and misconceptions run amok in typical Austen fashion, allowing for satisfying arcs and great love stories. An Unfinished Jan Austen novel, is now an unfinished seriesJane Austen has always been the gold standard for romances, and has arguably contributed to the fact that Regency Romances ar with biggest segment of the historical romance books’ market, Andrew Davies adapted the 11 chapters of Jane Austen novel to make this serene drama set in the costal town of Sanditon. The ensemble cast of characters are each drawn out meticulously. Given so little material to work with, there are no jarring moments where one feels the novel ends and Andrew’s story takes over. Cricket matches, sea bathing, boating regatta, a great mansion, scurrilous entanglements, racism, a kidnapping, and so much more adds to the story keeping the viewers enthralled. There are unexpected twists and turns, in the story and in the characters. Of course there’s romance, and humour, which are Jane Austen’s forte. And through it all we’re rooting for Charlotte and Sidney to get their happily ever after. Alas! The series was canceled leaving us with a cliff hanger and wanting more..GirlOfFireScore: 5/5

Jane Austen revealed!This is a wonderful series and Andrew Davies has done a great work filling the blank pages of Jane Austen’s unfinished novel. The cast and the set are perfect and the story keeps you on edge for more after each episode. If you love Jane Austen, you will be captivated by the stories and intrigues that unfold before your eyes, as well as fascinated to see how love finds its way in the little fishing town of Sanditon (Classic Austen). If you love adventure, romance in a enchanting setting, you will anguish to know the end of the story. It is quite interesting to see how much each character has grown since we first set foot in Sanditon with them. Andrew Davies owes us an ending that would honour the memory of Ms Austen. After all this wonderful effort, ending this story as she would have done it, would really confirm his talent as a screenwriter for eternity.
