Writer's strike reliefBummed out over the writer's strike? The perfect solution: download an early season of 24 on ITunes. I started watching from Day 4 on TV, so this is perfect. But don't start watching 24 on a work night. Don't kid yourself--no matter how late you won't be able to stop watching the next episode, the next and the next. Take my word, you'll still be watching at 4 A.M. Season 1 is just as good as all the other seasons. It's not the 'save the world from mass destruction' plot, but it's very intense and extremely cool. Fantastic show, very entertaining, but predictable.Season 1 of 24 is an exciting, action-packed show that will make you buy episode after episode after episode. Although it is exciting, the show is very predictable. It seems that the same thing happens to kimberly and terry throughout the season. They are kidnapped, then saved, then kidnapped, then saved ect. Overall this is a great show that you should buy..Score: 4/5
You WILL get addicted. I'm not sure if that's a good thing.[NOTE: I'm a writer/director/actor for what that's worth] Okay, news flash: Jack Bauer is a bad agent. A very bad agent. I'm teasing, but seriously he leaves a body trail like you'd never believe. And heaven forbid he should interrogate you. This guy is a walking advertisement for why torture does NOT work. Need a human shield? Grab a civilian. Need to get some information critical to saving people you love? Kill the guy that can help you. THE GOOD: The episodes are more action packed than a Harry Potter novel. Then end so abruptly and unresolved (similar to LOST) that you just have to watch the next one. Dennis Haysbert as the Senator who we believe is about to become elected is wonderful and it's strangely erie to be watching this two days before Obama's inauguration. Almost prophetic. I give Fox credit for allowing a show about a black president-to-be. Keifer is better than I've ever seen him. I don't think that's brilliant but pretty darn good. The supporting cast are great although there are some characters you want to strangle they are so selfish/stupid/etc. I won't spoil anything but you'll see what I mean. This is good in a trashy novel kind of way. There are genuinely great twists along the way, a couple emotionally evocative moments but they are tempered somewhat by: THE BAD: There are HUGE gaps in believability. Characters make huge nonsensical mistakes after supposedly being so incredibly careful and smart to get where they are (whether they be the lead character or spies...I'm not giving anything away here). Also, the show is ultimately depressing. It makes you fear for your country that people so stupid, selfish and reckless are in charge of anything. Dennis Haysbert as Senator is the ONLY shred of decency in the whole program aside from Jack Bauer's family. The worst? The ultimate villain that is revealed (and the villains' family). I have to give a badge of shame to Rick/Debi and Peggy who did the casting because the two they cast have the WORST accents I've ever heard. Were you forced to hire them? Did you owe someone a favor? It made me laugh out loud. I sat there with my wife and mimicked their accents. It sounded like a bad Dracula impression and they are not supposed to be Travsylvanian terrorists if you get my drift. The end result is a huge let down in believability. SUMMARY: You decide. If you can get it cheaper elsewhere I might recommend that. It's not a full price show for me personally. It is absolutely addicting and there is some great writing but the problems that I spoke of are inherent in the format. You can't do a show about 24 hours and have each show only be an hour and then cram each episode with so much action that at the end of the 24 hours (the season) you really have a hard time believing what just happened. It's on the edge of laughable. Am I tempted to get season 2? Dang it, yes! You might consider not watching them back to back since when it originally aired I'm sure that if left you begging for more and the week in between episodes smoothed over the gaps in logic..Score: 3/5

Best in the west, south, east, and north.Amazing. This show does everything so well. I love the clock and I love how they planned out the commercial breaks. I have always wanted to watch a show that took place in real time. Now I can. Thank you for making this! Kiefer Sutherland plays Jack Bauer so well and the plot and character development are so intricate that it only makes the show more intense. Kudos to the director. I'm in the middle of season 1 and was watching it on the plane and was so into it that the flight attendant asked me if I could keep it down. Worth it without a doubt!Alright my first written review and for a reason: Simply the best show ever! I will not spoil any of the MANY twists and action scenes for you, but all I can say is WOW! More Holes than Swiss Cheese but...Kiefer Sutherland is excellent. One star. Most of the cast is great and it's fun to see Dennis Hopper, Jon Voight and a few other familiar faces. Second star. It kept me interested and had some good thrills. Third star. But... The character of Kim Bauer is one of the most annoying I've ever seen on TV. And her mother's not much better. Why does this show have so many annoying female characters? So no fourth star. And finally: why so many holes? Are we really to believe that Govt. agents have no common sense. I can suspend my disbelief if the show gives me reason to (humour being a good reason) but too often I was wondering how the writers expect audiences to believe the dumb moves some of the characters make. And sometimes there were such huge holes in the plot you could drive a fully armoured Hummer through them. I think audiences expect more intelligent plots these days. No fifth star. Overall: better than many Hollywood productions but it falls short of being the great show it could've been. And Season 1 is supposed to be one of the best seasons of 24. Perhaps I'll watch a later season to see if they worked out the wrinkles. And perhaps to enjoy more of Kiefer Sutherland's acting..Score: 3/5

Greatest TV Show24 is possibly the most sublime TV watching experience imaginable, and finally you can watch it on the go, which is not essential but does help with when you have to leave the house in the middle. Nothing quite compares to 24 when it comes to excitement levels and lead character awesomeness. I defy you to be able to stop watching without a long fight with yourself. The only downside to this versus the DVD (apart from the price) is that at least with a DVD you have to change a disc, which is a chance to escape back to real life. If you buy this, set aside the 18+ hours required to watch it stat to finish, coz you will. In closing, WHY THE HELL CAN YOU ONLY GET SEASON 1 and 6?!!!! you MUST see the series in order otherwise it won't work!!.Score: 5/5

24 Season 1I would like to buy this show for my ipod and watch it. I have never watched it but i have read so many reviews that say how great it is, but the price of TV shows on itunes are too high. If it was around about £15 or lower then i wouldn't think twice and buy it. Great Television - really insulting price!!24 is perfect television; pacey, ridiculous, OTT and exciting! However, as many people have said, the price is outrageous, even by Apple standards! You can pick Season 1-4 up from anything between £16.99 to £27.99. Although Play had it at about 30.99 not long ago. There is no box art, no packaging, nothing - it's a download!
