Not Downton Abbey!I really wanted to like Gilded Age. Written by Lord Fellows, American studio money to produce it, hotly anticipated. The characters are almost all without any charm despite casting some outstanding actors. The story was very hard to connect with unless you love this period of American history. There was little or no humour. And the heavy use of CGI was no substitute for a real building like Downton, where Highclere Castle was actually one of the shows characters. Ill pass on series 2..Score: 3/5
Worst period series ever. Will they “whitewash” the travesty of injustice carried out by the Tuskegee Institute??? I can almost guarantee it. When series like “Lark Rise…” and “The Village” are cancelled, this is the garbage we are left with. An inaccurately gaudy spectacle that tries way too hard to be interesting but instead caters to the petty drama addicted, uneducated masses..Score: 1/5
Top notch castDefinitely no where near “Downton Abbey” but still a stellar show..Score: 5/5
Where are the tycoons?I very much enjoyed the show. My one quibble is that in order to spend all that money, someone had to make it. We hear mention of Vanderbilt and Flagler and Rockefeller but we don't see them. We don't see the deals, inventions and innovations that produced so much wealth (okay we got Edison and electricity). I guess George Russell was intended to represent the business man of the day but with all the wealthy women coming and going in each episode, they could have tossed in a few successful men..Score: 5/5

Better than Bridgerton? See for yourself!I love this show! It’s excellent!! I found it after Bridgerton finished their 2nd season and wanted something else to watch. It’s the same person who did Downton Abbey. Need I say more? Although, I didn’t watch Downton…My Mother watched and has all seasons. Plus, the movie and is going to see the newest movie with her friend soon; who is equally obsessed). It has received so many accolades. Their fandom is huge and loyal. Anyways, watch Gilded Age; you’ll love it too!.Score: 5/5
