The miniseries is great, the show ok.V, the miniseries is excellent. The TV show isn't nearly as great, but is still worth watching. It's pretty campy and comes off as a Sci-Fi soap opera of the 1980's..Score: 4/5
Ah nastalgia!Jeez, I remember this series very well. It was a family event to catch every last detail of this series. Man, this was back when we still had our top-loading VCR! Before Blockbuster, there was Jim's Video Mart, and I can still remember watching an episode of V there, while my Dad was checking out the huge laser disks that had just come on the market. V: The Second GenerationQuoting from the wiki- producer and director Kenneth Johnson's upcoming novel V: The Second Generation, a sequel to the first miniseries, is scheduled to be published in October 2007; a TV adaption is also planned for 2008. A medicore showI remember when this show first aired, all my friends were into it. I lost interest after just a few episodes. It's an okay show and kind of filled in the television sci-fi gap between Battlestar Galactica and ST Next Generation. Definitely campy by today's standards, but at the time it aired the effects were quite adequate - although the outfits were always horrendous in this series. All in all you can probably get the gist of this show by just watching a single Twilight Zone episode: "To Serve Man"..Score: 3/5

A good idea gone horribly wrongNBC tried to capitalize on the success of the mini series by making a TV show out of a concept that is ill-suited for a weekly series (something that still happens today). Having characters like Diana, as leader of the visitors, and Julie Parrish as one of the resistance leaders, was a great representation of women in power, but the stories were mostly ridiculous . One of the worst examples was when they changed gears halfway through the season and dumped half the cast with no explanation. Ham Tyler (the fantastic Michael Ironside) leaves mid season in the last five minutes of the epsiode with no notice but a hug from Julie. What? There is lots of campy fun to be had though, especially the "Charles and Diana" storyline. And don't get me started on June Chadwick (Lydia). The woman talks like she still has her brekfast in her mouth. Awful. Do I have all of this TV in my collection? Of course I have, I'm no fool. Enjoy..Score: 3/5
Good Idea. Bad TV.These episodes are sub-standard and tarnish the memories I had of V as a kid. The star child storyline was not interesting and the Universal Studio backlot sets were distracting. These episodes were rife with recycled footage and plot inconsistencies. I found myself straining to care about the characters that were so engaging in the original TV movie. So THAT'S why my parents wouldn't let me watch this...When this first aired on TV I was in 2nd grade. I remember the commercials and wanting to see this soooo bad. My parents insisted it would be too scary. Yep. They were right. Of course take into account it was the '80s so the special effects aren't what they are today, but this is such a great show. Great 80's sci- fiThe reason i loved this series was it didn't take itself too seriously! it was at the best of times campy, like a space "dynasty" with a constantly feuding for power blonde and brunette, the really cute resistance fighter falling in love with the the wrong girl, and the kicker..alien lizards who craved a mouse appetizer with a human main course! the spaceships done from a far were a great shot too. but it was also tongue in cheek, like many shows of the decade with the cold war. but this one was just a little more fun. enjoy!.Score: 5/5

Low rent, but still quite funAs a rather needless follow up to the original V mini series (which ia also now on iTunes, albeit at a very over inflated price) this show is a mixed success.
