The ship's location and itinerary are classified. Details of how the nuclear reactor works are top secret. Many aspects of life on a nuclear aircraft carrier are hush-hush. Dating and sex aboard ship are strictly forbidden, but according to one sailor, with 5,000 people on board, relationships are "inevitable," resulting in a "don't ask, don't tell" policy that applies to relationships as well as sexual orientation. When the Nimitz pulls into Hong Kong for a four-day port call, a scandal dramatically alters the lives of two sailors. As the ship departs, the crew learns their itinerary has changed. The captain announces that they are heading for Korea, but the crew can't share this information with their families back home … because it's a secret. This program contains explicit language. IncredibleI ordered the videos through PBS and it cost $40. I would suggest purchasing the season on iTunes. The series is incredible. I am currently a high school teacher and all my life have wanted to become a Naval aviator. This show has shown me so many perspetives and jobs I had no idea exsisted on a ship. I had a huge amount of respect for the military before, but this series has shown me so much more that I can't but help write this review and try to explain how amazing and different this documentary series is. If you have not purchased this series yet, please consider doing so. You will not regret it at all! Thanks!.Score: 5/5
Outstanding!!!This television series can only be described as outstanding. If i could give more than 5 stars, believe me, i would. This series puts the audience in the lives of US sailors and Marines who volunteer to put themselves through these tough deployments. The people in the series let us into their lives and share their thoughts about the war, deployment, and some of their own personal lives. We get to see what it takes to operate a Nimitz super carrier and the sacrifice given by the crew to make it happen. This series defeats the stereotype that naval enlistees and officers have an easy job. If this series doesnt give you a whole new respect for the men and women deployed at sea, i dont know what will. From something as simple to scrubbing floors to things as difficult as landing a FA-18 super hornet on top of a moving, swaying aircraft carrier, you'll definitely feel interested and involved with the individuals aboard the USS Nimitz. An EXCELLENT series that kept me ready for more. Especially for those who are interested in the military, you'll love this show! No matter your preferred branch (I happen to be going hooah) youll hold a deep sense of interest. Take a look at the previews and see for yourselves!.Score: 5/5

Awesome seriesI've seen this series several times already, and I never get tired of it. I'm getting ready to join the US Navy, and seeing this really gets me excited, and nervous at the same time. A great showI loved watching this series. I had the honor of visiting the Nimitz for a family cruise in 2001. (My son in law was on the Nimitz at this time) I enjoyed that day very much. Watching the series let me relive that day, and understand the day to day life on a carrier. I am so proud of my son in law, and every other member of our armed services. Most of our inlisted are very young, and are given a lot of responsibility, and should be commended for their service..Score: 5/5
Perfect lookThis series gives everybody a chance to see what kind of work we actually do on an aircraft carrier, being on the kitty hawk myself i can relate to these people, cause i go through the same thing almost everyday while we are underway. i really enjoy the series and i think alot of other people will not just military personnel..Score: 5/5
Great cinematography but too much whiningThis was a good idea. However, the views expressed were typical of today's Navy and our youth in general. For people that have never been in the Navy it will be eye opening. For those of us that have served, and still do, it is somewhat embarrassing. This isn't like going off to college; it is taking part in something bigger than you. It is becoming a Sailor. If you don't want to take orders, do hard work, and become something better than you are right now, then don't join. And please stop whining about how hard it is to be in the Navy. Most of you have it much better than your predecessors..Score: 2/5
CarrierThis is a really great show !! I was in the Navy and for someone to honesly show life out at sea it was great !! But on some of the shows they cut right off with no ending and that was disappointing..Score: 5/5
Dive Dive DiveAll I can say is. Thank God I was on a submarine. These guys and girls wine so much. We were full of men who were dedicated and professional. Surface Navy is full of babies. It is amazing the thing even floats with shipmates like that on board. Anytime we had a sailor not pulling their weight - they were drummed out. You know what I am saying is true. Because, ask any sub sailor. Anytime you were threaten with a major punishment it was always the same - "we will send you to the surface fleet." It has to be bad if our punishment is to be with them. One example; Chiefs eat with E6 and below. Field day is everyone. There are very few E-3 and below on board. I was E-4 before I saw a sub. This was a great show to watch. Excellent story-tellingThis is an interesting series, with great stories on the individuals lives of sailors and pilots during a stress-filled Middle Eastern voyage (Iraq). Excellent cinematography.
