Another toothless sci-fi family showI really want to love this because there is such a lack of good sci-fi on TV. But i don't feel much at all for this thing. I'm not sure why the studios treat sci-fi TV shows with such kid gloves. Literally. They simply don't allow adult characters to BE real adults. I understand that this is a "family" show but a good story (any story) can be mature AND safe for all ages without showing violence or too much adult situations. Sex and violence is not what is missing. Though both are amazingly absent from an apocalypse. What is missing is maturity, innovation, and insight. This is a silly kids show that is advertised as something bigger. Frankly, I've seen smarter kids and young adult shows. So it's not the audience that dumbs it down. It seems that when a studio decides to do sci-fi they figure every character, bit of dialogue and situation must have the depth, motivations, and emotive capacity of a 2D caricature. What? Because it's sci-fi? It's not fair to the genre, to the audience, or to the material. Sad thing is, as soon as a show starts bending the rules it gets canceled and not always for lack of ratings. Thank goodness for cable and european channels..Score: 3/5
