A young engineer named Henry Ford devises the plan for a gas-powered car. McKinley is assassinated and his VP Theodore Roosevelt takes office and quickly passes a series of regulations increasing oversight of American business. Ford receives his financial backing and comes up with the concept of the assembly line. He targets the middle class with his new product and changes the landscape of America. Rockefeller is put on trial for anti-trust violations. He loses in court and his company, Standard Oil, is one of the first monopolies broken up by the US government. JP Morgan helps to establish the Federal Reserve. This cements Morgan's legacy as the father of modern capitalism. Carnegie, still reeling from his culpability in the Johnstown disaster, gives away much of his fortune. His example of charity paves the way for individuals like Bill Gates who will do the same. As the US army sets sail for Europe, one thing is clear... these men didn't discover America. They built it..

Inspiring for anyone in the Business world!I could not stop watching episode after episode! One of the best documentaries I have ever watchedā€¦ cast.. scenicā€¦ the commentary using modern business men insight as well as historiansā€¦ Fantastic! Cut throat.. dominate.. and crush any opponentā€¦ survival of the fittest in the business world jungleā€¦ is still the rule.. it was thenā€¦ and still is now! It also had shown a great part of what America is all about.. how it had become the greatest country in the worldā€¦ because it had people like thatā€¦ while they built their own empiresā€¦ they built America.. I am not a woman who watched documentaries a lot but this was better than renting any chick flick movie on my apple TV.. watching strong men take over the world! Ahaa.Score: 5/5

An Incredible StoryIf onlyā€¦.If only this show existed when I was a kid studying history in school! I would be much more of a history buff than I am today. This series is making one out of me. Very interestingly told, the story is coherent and fits together well. It helps one if you can only but understand how things go together and why the country is the way that it is. How it got there. This is a story not to be missed..Score: 5/5

Great series, very annoying paceThe material contained here is really good and very interesting and I really had to watch from beginning to end the whole season in one weekend! The reason I do not give it 5 stars is that the producers saved themselves at least one full episode in the time they take in reexplaining everything after each break (where ads were supposed to be). I would understand somewhat of a recap at the start of a new episode, but after each break? Come on! Do the producers assume we are sooo dumb that every 12 mins they need to give us a 2-minute recap of the previous 12 minutes? It felt sometimes like an episode of Dora the Explorer and as the season advances it gets worse and more annoying. The other issue I saw was the repurposing of scenes. Though I understand this is History Channel and not HBO, using the exact same scene to represent Oil Pipeline in one episode and a car factory in another seemed way beyond cheap to me. All in all, very entertaining, but annoying to stick through their endless recaps of what you just saw..Score: 4/5

UNBELIEVABLE! INSPIRING!I was hooked from the first commercial break. BRAVO! Just when I thought that I could not learn anything else, the History Channel strikes. Well done, people. Rodney Blackburn.Score: 5/5

Would be outstanding ifā€¦.For a 43 minute show, they repeat the same scene at least twice, which you can only assume were commercial breaks when originally aired. This clearly could have been a good show, but either poor editing or the desire to stretch the content to multiple shows is truly devalues the product. So much of the content is repeated, it becomes difficult to watch and really would just like to have my money back.. Season and previous episode recaps, sure, but recap on content you saw just seconds ago, real annoying..Score: 1/5

Too much repititionWhile I like the production amd entertainment factor and light hollywood approach to history I don't appreciate the History channel's continuos repeating of scenes. After every commercial break we get about 2 minutes of recap of the storyline and we end up with maybe 30 minutes or so of original story. Most of their programming has this annoying approach of fitting a 30 minute program into an hour slot..Score: 3/5

Nonstop information enjoyableI watched the series on History and was hooked from the beginning. I new base information about these leaders, but really learned far more from the series. Schools should be required to show this. Everyone felt real and was never a boring moment. I looked forward to each week. I will have too see about owning this..Score: 5/5

Waiting for another seasonThere is so much more to tell, America is still rich in stories of innovation and how it changed the world. Lets get started on another season. We could do without the repetition though..Score: 4/5
