Vanderbilt, Rockefeller, Carnegie, and Morgan have gone unmonitored for decades, but American politicians are about to change that. They want these men to fall into line under government control. The men, some lifelong enemies, come together with a plan to buy the White House by donating the modern day equivalent of $30 million dollars to Ohio Governor, William McKinley. McKinley intends to repay his backers; he repeals regulation after regulation to allow them the freedom to do unimaginable things without consequence or impediment. Simplistic approach to pump the dramaWatched the first episode with someone knowledgeable in economics and history. He warned that the drama simplified complex issues and described some events with inaccurate hyperbole–“The first time, the only time”. Although the intent to show the 19th century entrepreneurs in a positive light was admirable, we ended up not 100% trusting the content. And like many other people here, we find the repetition annoying enough that we did not continue to episode two..Score: 3/5

Again with the same scene!!Great concept and production value is good. But unfortunately I agree with what everyone is saying. Same scene, why. I paid for this n I know there's no commercials. So why not edit?!!?.Score: 3/5

Great series, very annoying paceThe material contained here is really good and very interesting and I really had to watch from beginning to end the whole season in one weekend! The reason I do not give it 5 stars is that the producers saved themselves at least one full episode in the time they take in reexplaining everything after each break (where ads were supposed to be). I would understand somewhat of a recap at the start of a new episode, but after each break? Come on! Do the producers assume we are sooo dumb that every 12 mins they need to give us a 2-minute recap of the previous 12 minutes? It felt sometimes like an episode of Dora the Explorer and as the season advances it gets worse and more annoying. The other issue I saw was the repurposing of scenes. Though I understand this is History Channel and not HBO, using the exact same scene to represent Oil Pipeline in one episode and a car factory in another seemed way beyond cheap to me. All in all, very entertaining, but annoying to stick through their endless recaps of what you just saw..Score: 4/5
