Personal Preference (Full Series)This show was extremely controversial when it came out, with similar amount of hype to follow behind it. All things into consideration, the following is my opinion on whether someone who watches this will like the show. Firstly, to all dub haters, the dub is actually good. So there. It works, it's English, it's there. If there's any reason to watch this show, it is of the following. If you are a gamer, you will probably find enjoyment in this. Seeing the different mechanics and terms thrown around is... interesting to say the least. Furthermore, the action and music are on point. I don't throw that around lightly. The soundtrack, produced by Yuki Kaijura (forgive spelling) is absolutely gorgeous, despite her choir singing about coffee and soda, and is to be expected from the soundtrack makers for masterpieces such as Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Fate/Zero. A-1 Pictures did a fantastic job of animating, shown especially in the fluid action scenes. The idea behind Sword Art Online is not at all "original", being done before by the .hack franchise. Even still, it can hook you by episode one and make you want to rush to the very end to see how it all pans out. My issue, or issues that come with this series are the plot itself, and the characters. Although initially the plot was engaging, it is extremely hard to take seriously in the second half of the show for being unfocused and having a loss of anxiety by the audience. The direction the show takes is not an admirable one, and the show is filled with much filler (second half) and side stories that end up barely mattering (first half) in the grand scheme of things. Our main protagonist, Kirito, is very, very bland, and acts extremely developed as a character when, in actuality, he gets almost no backstory and almost doesn't grow as a person by the end of it. Asuna, the female lead, turns out to be a very generic tsundere (look it up) that doesn't go any farther. Their romance is rushed and bland, giving no meaning to the second half, for me. Every other character can be completely ignored, because they aren't given enough screen time to even be relatively important. To conclude, this series has a great start, fantastic music and gorgeous animation, as well as a good English AND Japanese dub. (although, you can only find the english dub on itunes). However, it fails very much so in terms of story and characters. In my opnion, if you are a gamer, you will probably like watching this show for the first time. If not, you still may like it. If you are bothered by weak characters, unexplained plot points and plot holes, and a lack of intriguing plot, then do not even bother watching the show. If you like action, you'll probably like this show, as well. The show is, as 3 stars tells, OK. However, I would NEVER recommend buying this show, because the rewatch value, other than the action scenes, is very, very low, and for the fact that to buy the complete series on itunes, you would have to pay $80~ , which is completely outragous for a show that is only decent at best. There are other ways to watch it, so I recommend doing so, if you haven't already. I can not recommend buying it, because it is nowhere near the price of admission..Score: 3/5
One of the bestSeries of its time. I've watched it in Japanese from the start.That having been said I will NOT touch the show in English with a 39 foot kanji. Instantly HookedNever really watched a lot of anime, to be honest. Closest thing to anime I have watched was Avatar: The Last Airbender. And if you count movies Spirited Away. A friend of mine was watching gameplay for the game based of the series. So I decided to watch the show on Netflix. I have only seen about two episodes and now I am "Instantly Hooked". I look forward to seeing where this series goes..Score: 5/5

The feels are too strongAnd that's a good thing! This is the most incredible show I have ever seen and will always be #1 in my opinion. It's got the most incredible romance, the most beautiful animation imaginable and let's not forget the amazing story.
