Very creative writing and great actingThis is NOT the Huxtables!! Those who get this show get it immediately. Those who don't never will. The biting, acerbic wit in the writing takes a bold step in the direction of addressing issues and stereotypes that many upwardly mobile (as well as not-so-upwardly mobile) African Americans live with and try to overcome daily. Started ok... Then it hit the spotGet to the third episode and you will see this come alive... Laurence F gets into full stride... The little daughter and mom is a hilarious pairing. Don’t let the “Cougar Town”-like title mislead you. This is a funny and heartwarming family comedy!While this comedy may have been conceived with a particular premise in mind, it is a well written, well cast, well acted family comedy that touches on the challenges of any set of parents looking to raise four very different kids while keeping the spark alive in their marriage. So much potentialThings I like about the show: the cinematography, the setting, the economic status of the family. Things I disliked about the show: it was riddled with racial references (hence the title). Overall: unfortunately this show picks up at the point where the Cosby Show began to lose its appeal - which is trying to be too "real". The original appeal of the Cosby Show was that it was a comedy with a "successful" family that happened to be Black, going about their everyday, interesting lives. It expanded the view of most African Americans and painted a picture of us in another light. Then after criticism of not being "relatable" to African Americans, the storylines began to change to more "urban" themes. And to me, that's when the show began to lose its appeal. It no longer stood out, but began to re-tell the often painful stories of urban life that many African Americans know all too well, because we lived them. With the show taking this new approach, we had lost our place of "escape" via the Huxtable househould every Thursday night. To me, 'Black-ish' is simply picking up exactly where the late episodes of the Cosby Show left off; just with a more modern day twist. And with the title being what it is, it looks like it will be pretty difficult to adjust some of those nuances..NucreationScore: 3/5

One of the funniest shows in a long timeWe watched the pilot last night and I have to say it had us belly laughing. The quality of the writing was excellent and with great acting from all of the cast, I am sure this will have a prosperous future.
