Feeling cheated....The trailer promises a scary ghost story. What we get is more of a twisted love story/mystery with some gothic overtones. On those terms, it was ok- but I think the trailer's downright misleading in what we're in for.

Good Visuals but poor storyAll of the sets and costumes were top notch as was the casting but that is where the good really ends. The story was just not there and it didn’t seem to leave the characters anywhere to go. Visually Stunning!Great package, but it’s the insides that count! Great casting, terrific sets, outstanding wardrobe, but… the story could’ve been bumped up by a notch as previous reviewers point out. Terrible movieAs a fan of Guillermo del Toro, this was a painful thing to watch. I was hoping for a return to form, but this the worst movie I have seen in a long while. The beginning had promise, but in the third act, it transformed into a pointless bloody mess. Guillermo fell prey to one of the things I hate most in filmmaking; he doesn't trust that the audience is intelligent and has to hand hold them to the points he is trying to make.
