Michael Jackson, the greatest entertainer who ever lived, makes his mark with his first solo album as an adult — Off The Wall — but to tell the story of this album you have to go back to the beginning. This film, directed by Spike Lee, starts with a glimpse into Michael’s evolution from the early days as a member of the Jackson Five to the point Michael decides it is finally time to release his first solo album — featuring his own music and with him having ultimate creative control. Spike then offers an in-depth look at each of the individual tracks on this seminal album, the cultural significance of Off The Wall and the impact it continues to have on today’s artists. The individuals who were interviewed for the documentary include some of today’s most important artists, e.g., John Legend, Pharrell Williams, The Weeknd and Mark Ronson, as well as other cultural icons, such as Lee Daniels, Misty Copeland, Kobe Bryan, and L.A. Reid. It is clear that the influence of The King of Pop and Off The Wall continue to be felt today.

It didn’t explain the songs very much..no in depth with Bruce Swedien..no outtakes?..Kobe?.. people who had absolutey nothing to do with Michael or the album were giving opinions. . An opportunity wasted..
His rise from childhood prodigy to reinvention in the Off the Wall album. There wouldn't be a thriller album if not for Off the wall. Truly the GOAT.
Michael Jackson is the greatest entertainer to ever live. not only that, but he was a perfectionist, a listener, an absorber; He truly dedicated himself to his craft, and as Michael would say he “learned from the greats to be greater”. Spike Lee did a great job of capturing Michael’s genius.
A beautiful tribute paid by those that influenced him, those which helped contribute to his success over the years, and by that those whom he inspired himself. Full of fantastic concert footage, live interviews, and behind the scene photos, many of which were new to me! Spike Lee did an amazing job with this documentary! Like the "Off the Wall" album, I find myself wanting to play this film on repeat!
Michael was great: Spike Lee does a mediocre job of showing that
Loved it except the sound went out during the last half. Don’t know if that can be fixed. I may try again at some other time.
Spike, Thank You for providing new generations with imagery of one of the most important figures of modern music and my generation. I felt proud to watch a loving documentary commemorating Michael Jackson, prior to “King of POP”. Please complete his work with remaining albums. Looking forward in seeing, Thriller, History, Invincible. Much Love Spike! M.J. for Life.
I think the the last 30 minutes of should have gotten to michael’s life and career in the 80’s. Just saying.

The greatest of all time. What a documentary! Inspiring.
This is another example to prove that Michael Jackson is indeed the greater entertainer of all time, the King Of Pop. No one will ever come close to his level of success ever!!! This shows that we should all appreciate his music, legacy and the legend himself. Have the radio stations play more of his music!!!!!!!!<3
