An unconventional love story.... In a dystopian near future, single people, according to the laws of The City, are taken to The Hotel, where they are obliged to find a romantic partner in forty-five days or are transformed into beasts and sent off into The Woods.. The Lobster Wiki
A lot of people say it’s weird and boring. That is understandable. Not recommended for people who are really into artistic films. I think it is a masterpiece and deserves to be watched. Really not for all people
Unique, raw, quirky, and overall great! It’s so nice to see something really original and significantly off kilter. Highly recommend
But very highbrow, very dark and very metaphoric. Unfortunately, it all falls apart in the third act, which is too bad as the utterly absurd premise that shines so brilliantly in the first half, loses its mojo and gives way to an anticlimactic conclusion that is utterly disappointing.
Avoid at all costs...even if it’s free, you won’t get back the wasted time.
This movie is so great! I loved every moment of it and the underlying meaning of it all.
I basically agree with all the one-star reviews of this film. Ever since "Moonlight," a singularly unwatchable film, won the Oscar for best picture, I have realized that Hollywood and the movie establishment somehow are conspiring to push really bad films on us. I have tried to be very careful before watching a film. I wait until it costs $0.99 to rent to limit the financial damage. I read reviews from Rotten Tomatos, Metacritic, IMDB, iTunes. But I messed up with this one. I admit it. They got me. As Dr. Red Duke below states in his review, "Critics were obviously paid a hamdsome bonus to write anything good about this movie." This film is beyond bad. In addition to not being funny and all actors speaking in a monotone, the film is profoundly disturbed and violent. Animal abuse, self-mutilation, mutilation of others, hatred of being single, hatred of being a couple, hatred of all institutions, hatred of lack of institutions, speak to a deeply disturbed and sick filmmaker and writer.
One of the better absurdist theater movie, great acting, great photography. Please make more.
I give this movie 2 out of 5 just because of how sophisticated this movie presents itself to be. However, I found this movie to be just straight out depressing and cruel. Don't think about watching this movie for a second if you want to feel good about life in general. This movie will depress you. I believe that was the directors intention in the first place.
I usually finish watching a movie once I’ve started it. Not this one. I absolutely hated it. I tried to give it a chance. I kept on watching even after the gory, dog kicked to death scene. I don’t remember at what point, (more than 1/2 way through), but I decided this movie wasn’t worth any more of my time. One of the worst movies I have ever tried to watch.
I became a reviewer to warn people about this movie and I saw this movie 2 years ago. It is not a comedy. The movie shows people getting their eyes gouged out. This movie is falsely advertised. It is horrible and deeply disturbing
