Hell or High Water Movie Reviews

  • A perfect film

Really, really a great all around film and instant classic for sure.
  • Outstanding

Great movie, should be an award winner.

  • Chiefs Pine beware

The movie is a classic. Great theme. Great settings. Jeff Bridges is an icon as an actor. Chris Pine, however, has some growing up to do, both as an actor and a public personality. During one of the HD extras in particular, he was arrogant, rude, full of himself and had a foul mouth. I'm sure his comeuppance is on it's way.
  • Good

    I liked it

Very slow, weak story, ok acting. I don't know why it is so high regarded. The action in the previews is all the action in the film.
  • Money well spent!

    La Pandita
Money well spent. Great acting, great plot, great cinematography. Great chemistry between the two main pairs (Chris Pine - Ben Foster, and Jeff Bridges - Gil Birmingham). Not sure how much winning the Academy means in this time, but I can not help but wonder why this movie did not steal more awards. Still, it does not change the perfection of this movie.
  • Wow

Guys, this movie is portrayed as a boring looking Western, but boy was I surprised. Don't let the ads fool you... beautiful cinematography, great acting, funny/action/drama all-in-one. Give it a shot, definitely earned its Oscar noms.
  • absolutely brilliant

didn't know what to expect from this film but the actors alone made me want to watch it. one of the best films i've seen! brilliant script and amazing acting.
  • Terrible

I gave it one star only because I cannot give it zero stars. Two hours of my life that I can never get back. The movie was endless mumbling and boredom. Save your $5.99 and go watch grass grow somewhere. It will be more interesting and you can use the money for a coffee. Just terrible.
  • A Near Classic Western

I read a "trusted" review before watching this movie (bad idea on my part), and watched this anyway. Both my wife and I were knocked out by the acting, cinematography, direction, and the use of the terrain. The desolation of the towns was like an additional character. In classic form, the ending was sort of known early on in the movie. How the characters got to that ending, however, is what made this movie so watchable. If I had a negative to report, I'd say that Jeff Bridges chews on the scenery just a little bit too much. I'd like to see him act without sounding as if he has marbles in his mouth. Plus, his character's overt racism would not be tolerated in the Texas Rangers. How nice is it to root for the bad guys?
  • Refund

Rented an it's not there. Refund
  • Real Texas - The Real Deal!

Jeff Bridges, Chris Pine & Ben Foster - Trifecta Oscars! I predict:"Picture of the Year" Cinematography- script - story - Excellent! A must see!
  • 4 outta 5 stars

A slightly more original movie that isn't quite as predictable as your normal Hollywood garbage. Solid acting, keeps you entertained and offers somewhat of a surprise ending. Perfect movie for anyone over 30 with an IQ above 100.
  • Great Movie

I rarely write reviews. This movie is worth a word. Excellent script and story line. The acting was superb, A fantastic job, even the character actors were amazing. The script was so well written, like old time movie making, where the movie relys on the story and not the effects. Totally believable. A great film, Kudos to the director.
  • Please watch this

    John Mulanry
I don't have a negative word to say about this movie. If you thought this year was a disappointment at the theater then watch this. It will change your mind. Stellar acting. Beautiful cinematography. Great writing. And a story that everyone can either get behind or feel for. 10 out of 10
  • Loved this movie

This is what a good movie used to be like. Modern day western of bank robbers verses Texas Rangers .
  • A Perfect Film

Perfect in that, when I reflect on it, I cannot think of anything about it that could be improved. Clever story; script that oozes authenticity; exquisite acting by the four main characters; really, really thoughtful direction and fabulous cinematography. Best flick I've seen in 10 years.
  • Another great Modern Outlaw movie

Filmed in New Mexico, as was No Country For Old Men, this is another great modern-day outlaw movie. Should have received wider theater distribution. Another classic performance from Jeff Bridges.
