“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
From J.K. Rowling's wizarding world.. In 1926, Newt Scamander arrives at the Magical Congress of the United States of America with a magically expanded briefcase, which houses a number of dangerous creatures and their habitats. When the creatures escape from the briefcase, it sends the American wizarding authorities after Newt, and threatens to strain even further the state of magical and non-magical relations.
What an amazing movie! Great actors, love Ezra miller
Acting and special effects were good. The scenes dragged on, just to include more special effects however. Storytelling is about a lot more than just special effects. Showing us less and implying more would have gone a long way in making me a fan. I cannot recommend this film.
It is a good movie and all but I expected a little better. There were some parts of the movie I found kind of slow and boring. And there were some parts that the movie just didn’t need. Overall I think you should watch it but don’t expect it to be the most epic best movie ever.
This is my favorite movie and a great film for American harry potter fans!
I had been waiting an entire year for this movie to come out and I definitely had high hopes and expectations for it. And it did not disappoint! It was visually stunning; the characters were lovable and interesting (I did not care for the president though😒); the beasts were all unique and beautifully animated; the plot kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through. Overall, it is one of my favorite movie ever!
This is a bad film. Live or die, I didn't care what happened to any of these characters. Two hours of poorly rendered CGI scenes.
It just doesn't seem right at all.
No no no nope no.
Great family fun movie there is literally nothing bad in it I would rate it 5 out of 5
I don’t like it I hated it
Taking it for what it was, a fantasy, I found the movie to be great fun. There was some drama, some romance and some adventure.
Turned it off. Couldn't get through the opening credits.
Not a comment about ths movie. I thought that it was ok. Itunes selection in general sucks. I just scrolled through and could not find a single movie that I wanted to watch. Itunes sucks.
Cool même si j'ai juste écouter le début
We thoroughly enjoyed this movie. You won't be disappointed.
best movie I've seen in years! Stands on its own. Well structured refreshing new characters and actors. Storyline a bit of a reach but I guess thats why they call it a story
The costumes were perfect. The storyline fell a couple of times but it made up for it with the action adventure. I enjoyed the ending of the unexpected meeting in the shop.
Phenomenal movie. Superbly acted, perfectly cast, amazing special effects! 10/10
De gros effets spéciaux pour masquer un scénario insipide et prévisible...
Awful. I tried to watch it again, in case I had it wrong the first time, but I was right: This film is a dreadful waste of resources and possibilities. Could've fed and housed a lot of homeless people but no, the producers just made this.
I wasn't too excited to see Fantastic Beasts and I wasn't too excited while watching it. If the movie wasn't related to Harry Potter I might consider it better because I felt like it completely lost the magic. I couldn't tell you a thing about any of the characters and the story didn't have much depth to it which really hurt the performances. On the positive side, I watch movies with a projector and surround sound which this film lends itself to. The last battle is also pretty cool. So overall... meh.
delightful & dark... a great film, i watched it at a friends & then bought it. a must watch/buy for any Potter fan
Characters deliver in dark, fun Harry Potter prequel.
Even though it's not as good as HP, it's still a fun and enjoyable movie. The acting is amazing. It has a great story. I'm so excited for the sequel!
I thought I would really enjoy this film, but sadly, no. The story was dull, and tonally, the film veered wildly between a children's fantasy of cringeworthy slapstick moments, and some very dark and bleak scenarios indeed. It just didn't gel at all. It all felt too try hard...there was no flow, no progression, and ultimately, no resolution. It lacked the charm and magical wonder of the original Harry Potter films. I found most of the characters tedious and very annoying. A wasted opportunity, a waste of talent and a total waste of time.
This was dull and lacked dramatic tension. Turned off after 30 minutes.
The imagination and creativity of JK Rowling literally defies belief, it is such a fun and entertaining film to watch.
excited to see it - but failed to capture any imagination or inspiration, perhaps the book was better...
Awesome ten out of ten
Great actors, but horrible story.
Boring! If the actors (if you can call them that) would not mumble so much it might have been worth finishing. Having said that, they didn’t, so I didn’t.
Despite a suitcase full of "fantastic beasts," they are in no way shape or form integral to the plot. The deletion of several characters could have only improved the movie, and those that you do get attached to... You won't like the ending. Badly paced, boring, and horribly executed. They miss so many opportunities to make a great movie and instead deliver a worse than milquetoast spinoff.
This is a great addition to the Harry Potter series! This was a great first prequel!
At first I was skeptical with all the hype around it, but it didn't take long for me to get pulled in. I loved seeing the interaction between American and British wizards and how different the cultures were. I'm looking forward to the sequels.
Great actors, good material for them to work with. pleasant movie to watch more than once.
Loved every minute of this magical film. So much charming whimsy & endearing characters. The fact that it is set in 1926 really was the icing on this fanciful cake. 💚🐉💚🐉👍
I never really watched all the other movies, they were too long and sometimes boring. This however was pretty good, although the cast seems less enjoyable than the other movies.
Such rich visual material, good casting, and the plot, as for me, is tolerably fertile, but - again - Yates' directing kills it all: he's tone deaf. No rhythm, no feeling, no understanding. The musical score is equally terrible: there's no connection between the movie and it's music. Pity and disgrace.
You can understand setting this in america ... what with the films characters and the roles they play hi lighting modern american themes ... death penalty ... lack of compassion/empathy with nature ... capitalism etc etc I wonder if the studio ever truly understood this project? 2 stars because you got it made but please spend more time on the vfx.
