Blumhouse (Split, Get Out, The Purge) produces an original and inventive rewinding thriller in Happy Death Day, in which a college student relives the day of her murder with both its unexceptional details and terrifying end until she discovers her killer’s identity.
. Collegian Tree Gelbman wakes up in horror to learn that she's stuck in a parallel universe. Her boyfriend Carter is now with someone else, and her friends and fellow students seem to be completely different versions of themselves. When Tree discovers that Carter's roommate has been altering time, she finds herself once again the target of a masked killer. When the psychopath starts to go after her inner circle, Tree soon realizes that she must die over and over again to save everyone.. Happy Death Day Wiki
The perfect blend of serious thriller and light hearted comedy.
This movie was light and fun. Similar to ground hog day but WAYYYYY better!
It was scary but I liken it
I don’t know how else to describe it. The PG-13 rating limits how much they can show, it’s not all that funny, or scary, and for a slasher film, it becomes stupidly easy to figure out who it is. Make and Female leads are okay. That’s all I can really say about this.
This movie is not good at anything it’s trying to do, it falls flat as a horror movie and screws up the Groundhog Day formula just enough to make you not care about characters other than one side-character. Gore is very tame, special effects are bad, main character is detestable not charismatic at all unlike bill Murray’s, there’s no reason to cheer for her. The villain is a wooden one dimensional baby masked killer who never talks in mask making it obvious they are hiding who it is so you know they’re misleading you deflating all tension as ending nears. Not well thought out, wouldn’t pay more than .99 cents to rent once, don’t buy as it has no rewatchability.
You know how all horror films are so dark and serious this one try’s to have and not focus on being dark and gory
This movie was personally one of the best movies ever! I love this movie and I definitely recommend it to everyone!
I admire the clever application of a "Groundhog Day" experience to a thriller/horror genre, however if I'm going to see the same sequence of events repeating continuously, I don't want the entire plot, including the twist, to be utterly predictable. This film was straight up boring, punctuated by the fact that every character was unlikable and not worth rooting for.
My boyfriend and I had send previews of its release, but hadn’t watched it until May! It’s definitely worth the time you spend watching
You might expect this movie to be a trashy sleepover crap-fest, but let me assure you: it’s not! ‘Happy Death Day’ is actually a very well done slasher-thriller with pretty good acting and fun moments. I suggest this to any horror, any comedy and even any drama fan.
It’s an amazing movie, funny, and it’s just great to watch
too predictable and poorly executed. why cant hollywood come up with original ideas.
Fantastic movie 👍👍👍👍
Happy Death Day although borrowing from the movie, "Groundhog Day" this movie's twist into a Mystery/Slasher still excites and creates a movie worth watching! Jessica Rothe definitely carries this movie and your connection with this character only changes as the movie progresses. From hating her at the start to completely adoring her at the end, hoping her character can figure everything out, Rothe delivers an exceptional performance! She's also pretty bada** too, I must say, as she tries to solve her many murders and fights through every obstacle, literally. Throughout the movie as Rothe dies and then wakes up again the same morning, the number of "live, die, repeats" is the perfect length with each being unique and not to the point of it being tired and reused to often. With the killer, I myself was guessing right up until the end, where it feels as if you're never ahead of Tree but rather solving these murders alongside her. When she comes up on a dead end, you're right there with her, shocked! However, what I found very interesting was the mixing of other genres, where this isn't just a Mystery/Slasher, but a Comedy-Romance as well, as Rothe begins to bud a love for her dorm room guy. Yet, in the end a product is created where everything ties together beautifully. Nevertheless, as someone who is not a fan of the horror genre and hides behind the covers at the slightest of things, I found myself magnetized to the concept of this movie and ended up watching it and enjoying it. There definitely are some jump worthy moments and times where you're yelling at her not to open the door! :) But, it is a movie worth the money and such a cool film to see, be you a horror film enthusiast or not! No doubt a 5 star worthy movie!
This was a very good movie. Worth the money to watch it.
A funny not too much predictable slasher that you’ll enjoy watching if you don’t necessarily want to be scared. It’s my new favorite slasher movie!
