What if, in the wake of more than a decade of devastating weather events, we finally found a way to control Mother Nature and the destruction her tirades entail? When catastrophic climate change endangers Earth’s very survival, world governments unite and create Project Dutch Boy: a global net of satellites surrounding the planet that are armed with geo-engineering technologies designed to stave off the natural disasters. After successfully protecting the planet for two years, something is starting to go wrong. Two estranged brothers (Gerard Butler, Jim Sturgess) are tasked with solving the program’s malfunction before a worldwide geostorm can engulf the planet.
Some things were never meant to be controlled.. After an unprecedented series of natural disasters threatened the planet, the world's leaders came together to create an intricate network of satellites to control the global climate and keep everyone safe. But now, something has gone wrong: the system built to protect Earth is attacking it, and it becomes a race against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide geostorm wipes out everything and everyone along with it.. I was very surprised at this movie, expecting a SyFy channel eco-disaster flic. Then is really thru a curve, espionage, kidnapping...man it really is great entertainment
Don’t understand what the fuzz is all about, this is a real good movie! It has everything that makes an excellent blockbuster! A must see for all SyFi fans!!
It makes me go into deep thinking
Trying to kill time? Well look no further.
How the best laid plans and inventions can be hijacked for evil. It is almost like they made this movie to try and tell us that our weather is manipulated. Nawwww....couldn't be. Good cast. Good acting. But the weak part is the story is kind of all over the place because in less than 2 hours the plot and worldwide implications are simply too big to fit nicely into a 2 hour movie format. Still...very entertaining and it makes you think.
I stopped paying attention when he left his trailer, got on a space shuttle to a space station like had ordered an Uber. Sigh... it's a cheap thrill. Watched it to pass the time.
This movie is really good. Very original and great suspense.
So nice movie I like
This movie is STUPID, if you know anything about science and space you can’t possibly enjoy this.
Very good movie.
Not a plot but great main event but movie was very weird and muss-upend
I mean the idea was cool, but it was really bad. I wished they tried harder on his one
The Performance let down by an A-list cast was disappointing. However....even though the acting was something to be desired, still a decent entertaining film with an interesting plot but by no means an award winner on any level.
I liked some parts of this movie. But I wanted more destruction from this machine. And when it did come it was over faster than a teenage rendezvous. So I was quite disappointed by this. I’ve always been a big fan of weather movies as I grew up in the ‘90s when Twister, Armageddon, The Day After Tomorrow and of course I could go on. These movies had the sh%t hit the fan pretty much right away without too much of a story line because you don’t need one. The characters are too busy saving their collective asses for their to be one. And that’s okay with me because the weather itself is the villain so you don’t really need to create one from a human character. So this movie went above and beyond what they had to do and not in a good way. They took too long to destroy the planet and spread it out like the last drop of butter. Sometimes less is more but not in these types of movies. I want to see chaos and destruction and fear and people dying by the thousands in horrible ways. This movie just struck out. It could have done so much more with the storyline because there is room for a great movie within this story line and to me they missed the mark big time.
Save your time and money.
Predictable and ridiculous but fun. Stupid name. I didn’t notice any poor acting.
Ce film nous tient en haleine jusqu’à la fin! Très bon film!
Public service announcement; Geostorm is not about a sexy world weather catastrophe. It's about a bunch of DC dorks and a space cowboy named Gerard Butler who just walks around a space station for 2h.
Only rent this if you just want to see explosions and silliness with poor acting and predictable story lines. It wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, but I'm glad we didn't waste money in the theatres.
The story is completely far fetched; simply ridiculous but still entertaining.
We enjoyed it ... disaster movie ... lovely actors .. very light and entertaining... but don’t expect a brain teaser
I'm very open minded when it comes to movies but unless you can watch it for free I wouldn't bother posting for it.
Completely unbelievable, yes it’s sci-fi but should still make sense
If you want a rental as background noise, this is the movie. It’s a plethora of ideas already done to death. Disappointed that Hollywood has no imagination left, that they continue to rehash the same ole.
If you don’t care at all about a plot based on completely idiotic made up science, this movie is a reasonable b-grade save-the-day adventure. If you need at least a morsel of believability from the science in your science fiction then you should give it a miss. Suspending disbelief is one thing, but this movie expects you to murder disbelief, cut up its corpse and bury the pieces somewhere they will never be found.
Those giving negative reviews..please stick to reading novels and let hollywood do its thing..saw this on 3D full surround sound..wow!
I think it’s a good educational movie give you idea what might happen in the World with this global warming and how to tackle it
Jesus! This is ridiculous and I really don’t understand why they made this movie. If you really want to save the world, try not to film another one.
Really enjoyed this movie. Similar to other “end of the world” type movies but still worth watching.
This gave me the distinct impression that only Ed Harris and Abby Cornish took this movie seriously. The two male leads just came across as glib and seemed to pay lip service to what should have been a really good movie. I'm not sure what's happened to Andy Garcia but he seemed awkward and misplaced as the President. Films like the Core seem to have far more substance to both the acting and the plot line. Geostorm is ok for light end-of-the-world type sci fi entertainment but I felt a bit ripped off at $7 for the rental. Shoulda waited till it was $2.
Nice film if this was the 90s but we have seen too many disastar films to know exactly what is going to happen...
I bit lacklustre
$7.99 and a few hours of our time never to get back. A mismatch of every other generic futuristic ‘America saves the world’ movie you have ever suffered through. Don’t do it to yourself
OK storyline but very unrealistic and poor acting!
