Inspired by the real life of singer/songwriter Alyssa Robbins, Becks follows a musician who moves back to her childhood home in St. Louis after a crushing breakup with her longtime girlfriend. While performing for tips at a local tavern and struggling to reconnect with her ultra-Catholic mother, she strikes up a unique friendship with the wife of an old nemesis. Becks begins to discover her musical voice as she performs deeply personal songs about her ex and the loss of their relationship. Driven by an original score, the film’s musical numbers bring a unique new voice to the American musical movie.

Heartfelt and funnyBecks uses a familiar premise to deliver a movie with complex characters, relevant themes, a realistic tone and just the right amount of levity. The acting is also really strong especially Lena hall as the title character. Even though Becks is a flawed character, you still feel for her due to the writing and Hall's performance. Becks is a dramatic, funny, and charming and romantic movie filled with great music. I would strongly recommend watching it..Score: 4/5
One of my favorite films of 2018!I highly recommend Becks to music and movie lovers alike. A struggling musician moves back home following a devastating breakup with her girlfriend and starts an unlikely romance. The plot is fresh and the original musical score is fantastic. This dramatic comedy manages to be both heartwarmingly funny and heartbreakingly sad. However, my favorite part of the film was definitely the music. Lena Hall is so talented and her music really contributed to the emotion of the film..Score: 4/5

This Film Is EVERYTHING.Great swiftly moving sensual film about modern day humans dealing with this thing called LIFE despite all their beautiful flaws & scars.
