Hollywood movie with average main actressYou would think that 89% on Rotten Tomatoes should be an indicator for a pretty good movie. Well, I guess these days are gone. The movie starts ambitiously with a great main actress Rosamund Pike. But after approx. 20 minutes the movie becomes shallow: Pike does her swearing again and again, having the same look on her face, and combat scenes look like from a well made B-movie. Riveting Movie About a Very Brave Woman Who Made a DifferenceThis is a great movie about a real woman who made a real difference in the world by giving us a look at the reality of war in places most of us will never see, and in a way that cut through the gloss and editing of standard news production and propaganda coming from various sources to confront us with the raw terror and poverty that is part of the everyday lives of people in a war zone. Marie Colvin was a very brave woman who, the movie asserts, probably had a variety of reasons for going back time and again into war zones and risking her life. The movie is well written, showing the unflattering aspects of Colvin's life as well as the more admirable. Rosamund Pike gives the performance of her career as Colvin, and the supporting cast is also excellent. The editing and cinematography are outstanding, striking the right tone of immediacy during the war scenes, while also allowing us to get a feeling for Colvin's life at home. The world is a better place for Marie Colvin having been in it. This movie does a good job of honoring her life, and all of her work, as well as the work of all of the brave souls who risk their lives as war correspondents and photographers..NorthernHarrierScore: 5/5
