From the imagination of Wizarding World creator J.K. Rowling comes the Fantastic Beasts film series, magical adventures set before the time of Harry Potter. At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings. In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.
Fate of One. Future of All.. Gellert Grindelwald has escaped imprisonment and has begun gathering followers to his cause—elevating wizards above all non-magical beings. The only one capable of putting a stop to him is the wizard he once called his closest friend, Albus Dumbledore. However, Dumbledore will need to seek help from the wizard who had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald Wiki
Too many sub plots and way too much dialogue for one to keep up with the every single sub plot.
This was an amazing movie with the continuance from the first movie to show more on grindelwald and dumbledore! The twist and turns for this movie were unexpected but so satisfying. I can’t wait to see where the next one will take us!
I love this movie! It’s better than the first in my opinion! I did not see this in theaters because of other movies, but I did buy it when it came out and ended up loving it! The reason I say it’s not for everyone is because ,my relative was watching this with me and I asked after the movie if he liked the movie the same way I did. He said it was ok,not good not bad just middle of the road. However ,that’s not how I felt at all! In fact this is one of the best Harry Potter movies for me! It’s not a flawless movies, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad! It took risks and I respect that!
With my family being Harry Potter fans, we were pumped up when we rented this movie to watch. We were in for a total disappointment. It didn’t hold the excitement and magic of the first Fantastic Beasts. Newt Scamander was completely out of character along with Grindelwald. It didn’t have much of a plot either. The only saving grace was seeing Hogwarts again. Very dull indeed.
It’s a good #2 but short of the expectation
Is this guy supposed to be handy cap or something. It’s not like Harry Potter franchise where it all matches and have a purpose to the next one in line. It’s so slow moving. Just dumb some areas. I’m not understanding the characters at all. It’s badly written 1 and 2. Sorry just saying. It’s confusing.
Save your muggle money for something else. The big crime of Grindelwald is making the audience fall asleep by boring them to slumber. Zzzzzzzzzzz..
I love the world of magic and fantastic beasts J. K. Rowling has given us. I am constantly amazed at the versatility and talent of Johnny Depp. The whole cast was terrific. I've read another filmin the series will be coming in 2021 - not soon enough for me.
So the movie is good, but the extended version is done really, really poorly. They have the regular, theatrical version of the movie, no changes; and then the extended version with deleted scenes. But the extended version announces all of the deleted scenes with a “deleted scene” title that completely takes you out of the movie. In every other extended version of a movie that I have seen, they just have the extra scenes smoothly inserted in the movie, but this version of announcing the clip is completely unnecessary and ruins the experience. If there is a way for them to fix this and remove the titles and announcements through iTunes, it should be done right away.
The special effects are first-rate, but the story line is chaotic, while the lack of a resolution at the end left me feeling disappointed with this “effects demo reel.”
Wait till all the sequels are out.
Franchement brouillon comme film même en suivant on n’y comprend pas grand chose. Je préfère encore Harry Potter🙃
Glad we didn’t pay the money to see this in the theatre. It was a little hard to follow at times. It also dragged on at times.
As a true Harry Potter/J.K. Rowling fan I couldn't help but be disappointed in this movie. It was, right from the beginning, disjointed and hard to watch. The special effects were the only things that made it worth watching and even those soon became boring. I'll be hard pressed to watch the next in the series.
i disliked it from A to Z and Mr Depp should be excluded from further development of Harry Potter franchise
This série is really good.
Hardcore fans are so biased because they think it’s Harry Potter part 8, guess what it’s not. I think this is even more entertaining than Harry Potter.
Not even the great Johnny Depp could save this convoluted mess - Rowling seems to have lost the plot...
Confusing and complicated plot .... a complete mess ......how did they get away with such a piesce of rubbish
As a Harry Potter fan I love the series I’m guessing this is like a part 1 or something nothing really going on I hadn’t seen the first fantastic beast maybe that’s why I didn’t enjoy it as much but hopefully the next one will be more exciting as I am a fan of mr Depp that’s why I gave this 3 stars otherwise would of been 2 star
Really enjoyed the first movie...but this was a joke!! Special effects are amazing and that is it...had no idea what the plot was or who the hell was who. Such a confusing movie!! Very disappointed as myself and my family sat down on a Sunday night to watch together..we were all disappointed!
Seriously? I have no idea what this movie is about. Great effects but disjointed story from hell. Boooooooring.
Don’t bother unless you need something to put you to sleep
As a HP fan I was disappointed. The storyline was all over the place and I was bored. The sets were impressive but that's about it.
A rudderless ship in rough seas, this movie lurches sickeningly between fancy effects to fail to navigate its confused narrative. Like a Picasso painted on bad acid, really. 2 hours and money that could have been better spent otherwise.
I have watched this movie so many times and I love it! Worth the money
Only action in the entire movie happens in the last 10 minutes. Boring throughout and just a setup for another movie. Dont waste your money
Lavish setting and costumes and even good acting, but ultimately what was the point of this movie? Gives backstory that could have been a 10-minute flashback in the next film instead. Fans of HP and the first Fantastic Beasts likely to be disappointed
Just watched the movie at the theater and was positively surprised. I loved the first one and was pretty sure I’d enjoy the second one but this was definitely more than I could ask for. As someone in his thirties who grew up with the Harry Potter books, this is a movie bringing back fond memories and also explaining background things I wondered about while reading the books initially. As a huge fan of the potter verse I was bound to buy this movie eventually so I decided to ore-order. That’s sth I hardly ever do and this I guess is a testament to how much I enjoyed the film. I really look forward to the next movies and the tidbits of information we will be served about the JK universe.
Absolutely an amazing movie never fails so so gripping scenes that leave you at the edge of your seat must watch love love love the harry potter franchise its the absolute best
Worth the wait
The second instalment of the Fantastic Beasts series arrives in gothic style with Johnny Depp’s Gellert Grindelwald on the loose determined to create a world full of pure-blood wizards. As his following grows wizards and witches alike must choose where their loyalties lie. Ezra Miller’s Credence Barebone is also back, and calmer, seeking answers about his true identity. He’s a wanted man with various groups hunting him believing he is the solution to the wizarding world’s civil unrest. Harry Potter veteran David Yates again directs with most of the original film’s cast returning with some excellent additions in the shape of Callum Turner, Zoë Kravitz and Derek Riddell, however star of the show is undoubtedly Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore and Jude Law’s effortless charm, and ever so subtle Irish lilt, successfully captures the essence of the best headmaster Hogwart’s has ever known. Law brings style and a mischievous energy to a role that warranted more screen time. Leading the reliable ensemble cast, Eddie Redmayne’s endearing Newt Scamander is still more comfortable around beasts than humans whilst Johnny Depp is suitably menacing without going over the top. There’s a welcome return to everyone’s favourite wizarding school and as soon as the doors to the Great Hall are opened there’s a comfortable sense of familiarity which is proof the magic is still very much in the air, however at two and a quarter hours it’s quite a long film and, surprisingly, not a lot actually happens. Some frenetic set-pieces aside, the pace is fairly pedestrian and lacking in humour with sub-plots and back stories given too much emphasis. Something’s definitely brewing in the Fantastic Beast’s cauldron, but it doesn’t happen in this film. Yes, there are revelations and intriguing twists with some lovely attention to detail from J.K.Rowling’s enchanted imagination, but there’s an anticlimactic sense to the film which will hopefully be improved upon in the next instalment. Not as fantastic as it could’ve been, but still a fun magical mystery tour, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald should please the Potter purists, but needs to work harder to make sure its third film's a charm.
Not so much a kids film my 9yr was a bit restless at times as lots of dialogue to follow. Very engrossing story and some fantastic set ups.
I enjoyed the movie. Fantastic cast and certainly lived up to my expectations. I felt it dragged slightly at points, but that was bound to happen with the length the film was running at. Johnny Depp really took the role of Grindelwald in his stride and certainly stole the show for me! I can’t wait to see how he develops the character in the next movie. If you haven’t seen it go watch it, don’t listen to critics that drag it down go and make up your own mind!
Absolute amazing this is better than the first and dare I say most of the Harry Potter franchise one of the best films of the 21st century
Over long disappointing and boring movie. Not nearly as good as the first one.
