An investigation into the crash of a strange vessel quickly turns into a battle that not even Earth's most powerful heroes are guaranteed to win. Broly, one of the greatest threats the universe has ever known, has returned - and this time, Goku might be powerless to stop him. Broly has gone insane from the hatred that boils inside him, an anger that burns hotter than even the pits of the fiery underworld. A Saiyan Space pod crash-lands on Earth out of which a wounded Saiyan crawls: Broly, the Legendary Super Saiyan. The wounded Broly shouts out in frustration and turns into normal form. The place soon freezes, trapping him in it and he falls into a coma.

Contudo, próximo da aldeia um monstro bem pior acabava de acordar: Broly, o lendário Super Saiyajin, está vivo e veio à terra para se vingar da sua derrota anterior para Goku. Mas com Goku morto, cabe aos seus filhos e a Trunks o desafio de derrotar Broly e salvarem a terra.
