Since WWII, Calvin Barr has lived with the secret that he was responsible for the assassination of Adolf Hitler. Now, decades later, the US government has called on him again for a new top-secret mission. Bigfoot has been living deep in the Canadian wilderness and is carrying a deadly plague that is now threatening to spread to the general population. Relying on the same skills that he honed during the war, Calvin must set out to save the free world yet again. Starring Sam Elliott, Aidan Turner, Caitlin FitzGerald and Ron Livingston, The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot follows the epic adventures of an American legend that no one has ever heard of.
An American Myth. Decades after serving in WWII and assassinating Adolf Hitler, a legendary American war veteran must now hunt down the fabled Bigfoot.. The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot Wiki
I thought this would be a quirky, unusual independent film, but it came across like a bad student film. Terrible plot and the directing was horrendous.
Who would think a Sam Elliot movie could be so bad? This one is. Don't waste your time or money. Terrible.
I stopped halfway through. It would be a waste to invest anymore time into this movie through writing a long review.
I'm ashamed for Sam Elliot...its one the the worst movies I've seen...the worst acting by all the actors and such a horrible script...this is the first review i have ever responded to...I am sorry I wasted .99cents which is nothing but compared to how awful this movie is...its way to much money!!! It deserves -O stars
The title of this movie had the trapping of an original and inventive storyline. With Sam Elliot as the lead, how bad could it be? Well, pretty bad. It's really an all over the place mess that's hard to follow or latch on to. One of the worst movies I've watched in a long time. What about the 75% RT rating? Obviously fake, paid for, reviews. RT is useless as long as studios are free to offer compensation for positive reviews.
If I could give negative stars I would give it -5. This movie has no point whatsoever. This movie was conceived, scripted, produced, directed, filmed, and acted by a bunch of college dudes that were sitting around the house playing with a new GoPro Hero 4 when one of them says, "Here, hold my beer, I got a great idea, let's make it into a movie."
Don't pay any heed to the blockbuster zombies dumping all over this film. No, it's not a big budget action adventure thrill ride, as the title may lead one to believe. This is a melancholy, thoughtful character study, full of beautiful cinematography and a truly outstanding performance by Elliott. Not a bad soundtrack, either. Yeah, the Bigfoot could have looked better but what do you want? This film was independently financed, I doubt they had the money to make another Harry and the Hendersons. Aside from that very minor criticism, I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to watching The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot again sometime.
Sam Elliot is one of my favorite actors but this has to be the worst movie he has been in. Was fair until the “Big Foot” fight and barf scene. They could have left that out because the special effects were worse than a play from grade school.
First off, many of you kids with the so cliche line of "I want my time back" or whatever, get a life, such a tired joke, The movie was decent, interesting and enjoyable, but could have been made/directed much better, and Sam's fight scenes were obviously lacking, but he ain't Jackie Chan or in that movie of his from way back, Road House. There will be some dull old age moments but Sam does a good job with it. They should have done more flashbacks. Still an overall intresting flick - probably more of a $4.99 buy price.
Sam Elliot, why?!? Also, this goes to show how movies and tv shows have to escalate, we’ve killed Hitler, Bigfoot, then a killer virus. Now, we have to kill Hitler AND Bigfoot AND a killer virus. Why not just give the killer virus time travel powers so it can infect Hitler, too? I’m afraid to see what’s a fringe, yet high production movie in 5 to 10 years. Two stars because the production level isn’t a B quality and somehow, they signed up good actors for this.
Do not watch this. No storyline, no plot, such a disappointing movie. I love Sam Elliott and the preview looked good. 97 minutes of my life i just lost. GBear64
I’m still wondering how I managed to watch it until the end. I guess I hoped for a spectacular turn out but it never happened. Oh well...
We were intrigued with the title and preview, and like Sam Elliott so thought we’d give it a go. At the 47 min mark we were seriously wondering why such a movie had been made, but thought we’d persevere until the end from a macabre sense of “it cannot get any worse... let’s see how it ends”... and were blown away by how badly it went from there on. I have no idea what the critics watched... this will be 97 mins of your life you’ll never get back.
I enjoyed the movie. The pacing was odd but compelling. Novel, different and special...
Preview looked good, but the movie did not deliver. Save your money.
Could have been a great moview with such a bizzare script. Instead the Americans show how little they know about Canada and just how stupid Americans really are. 2 out of 5 stars is stretching it for sure.
Do not be fooled by the deceptive high rating this is a dull and ridiculous movie! Yawn
Could have been really good, but it just moves way too slowly and ends up being kind of terrible.
My wife and I enjoyed it. Well done and entertaining. Touches the heart at times.
