Movie has no heartJonathan Pryce was very good as Don Quixote but his performance is wasted in this movie. Adam Driver is selfish, egocentric and unlikable. His efforts at being quirky or daft feel manufactured and his "redemption" at the end was empty and unsatisfying. There is no reason to care about any of the characters in this movie, which makes the attempt at artsy theatrics pointless..Score: 2/5

Pure GilliamAnd that means to formulaic crap of any kind. The cast is as spectacular as the landscape. Pure lyricism. If you're used to a straight forward narrative, this isn't for you. And if you loved it, watch the documentary "Lost in la Mancha"..Score: 4/5
DisappointingI saw it in theaters during its one-day release, and it wasn’t worth the $12.95 I paid to see it. I’ve been looking forward to this movie for over a decade, and I was really let down. It doesn’t feel like a movie Gilliam was working on for over two decades. It was too long and uninteresting. Terry Gilliam Never DisappointsAs a long time fan of Gilliam’s films it’s great to finally see his vision for Don Quixote finally hit the screen. Many of the casting decisions throughout the years leading up to this final product (like John Hurt and Johnny Depp) would have been excellent but when watching the movie at long last I really feel Jonathan Pryce and Adam Driver were meant to be the leads. It’s also good to see Pryce and Gilliam work together again, such powerful work when they’re together (Brazil). I enjoyed the subtle bending of reality. Gilliam historically is a bit more visually stark and avant-garde (like The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus or Zero Theorem). This film has all the quirkiness of Gilliam’s usual visual mastery but with a more quiet innocence that would rather serve the characters and story than be too hyper-real or obvious. Possibly Jonathan Pryce’s best performance. Adam Driver continues to impress, he’ll be one of the greats if he continues to do small high quality movies like this. Beautifully shot, amazing costumes, set design and locations. Engaging characters, original and highly imaginative story that wraps you in and makes you feel comfortable to live in their world for a couple of hours. I don’t have any negative criticisms of this film. The way I see it is either Gilliam is your flavor or he’s not. If you’ve enjoyed his films in the past I guarantee you’ll enjoy this. 25 years in the making, wonderful job Terry! Thanks for all the great flix!.Score: 5/5
Absolutely awful! It breaks my heart to write this, but I must report that the man who made "Brazil", "Baron Munchausen", and "Time Bandits", has completely lost his creative prowess. Horrendous script tries to play with familiar Gilliam tropes, but it is shocking when you think that this terrible, boring, nonsensical film is the result of a 25 year struggle. Somewhere along the way, the artist lost himself, and found mediocrity in full supply. Total garbage..Score: 1/5

I was worried about some of the bad reviews. No need. A stellar picture.Full of allegorical nuance as well as the idiosyncratic behavior that defines us as humans, do not forget this movie was a very long labor of obsession and love by the co-director of the timeless classic The Holy Grail. I perhaps had low expectations but was captivated by nearly every scene. You will laugh and cry at the human condition and our potential to delude yet inspire ourselves.
