Dani and Christian are a young American couple with a relationship on the brink of falling apart. But after a family tragedy keeps them together, a grieving Dani invites herself to join Christian and his friends on a trip to a once-in-a-lifetime midsummer festival in a remote Swedish village. What begins as a carefree summer holiday in a land of eternal sunlight takes a sinister turn when the insular villagers invite their guests to partake in festivities that render the pastoral paradise increasingly unnerving and viscerally disturbing. From the visionary mind of Ari Aster comes a dread-soaked cinematic fairytale where a world of darkness unfolds in broad daylight.

Several friends travel to Sweden to study as anthropologists a summer festival that is held every ninety years in the remote hometown of one of them. What begins as a dream vacation in a place where the sun never sets, gradually turns into a dark nightmare as the mysterious inhabitants invite them to participate in their disturbing festive activities.

An amazing flick!!!Look let’s get this over with! The movie is long! Long long before anything actually happens. So, if you’re the type of person that doesn’t like to wait or wants action, look away from this because this ain’t your movie. The story is weirdly suspenseful and perfectly well crafted. A lot see this boring because it all dialogue, I founded intriguing and engaging. I dig it. Oh and the plus plus part of this is that iTunes paid for the rights of the extended edition! This movie is hauntingly unsettlingAri Aster movies are a hit-or-miss for me. This was definitely a hit. I was surprised that this movie struck me as it did. Yes, it seems to be an homage to such films as the Wicker Man. However, where the Wicker Man fell flat (and it was pretty unleavened for me) this movie soars. Florence Pugh is brilliant and brings such power and raw emotion to the role. Yes, it’s really long - does it need to be so long? Not sure, but it builds the suspense and anxiety beautifully. I would recommend this movie to people who who enjoy folk/gothic type horror..ChvckwScore: 5/5

Worst movie I’ve ever seenI’m glad I know this Director so I will make sure I never see another piece by him. Bloated story about innocent people being slaughtered in grotesque ways with bizarre rituals with everyone wearing white. This isn’t a horror filmIt’s a breakup film where an unstable girlfriend gets to murder her slightly douchey boyfriend. As already stated it’s a pretty film, and that’s about it. It’s not scary, it’s not “spooky”, it’s not gory (there’s about two gore shots and it doesn’t even approach GOT level violence). It’s boring. It’s overlong and very, very boring.
