Shanghai, 1934. In an insect world parallel to that of humans, veteran Inspector Sun, a lone spider, leads his last mission against his archenemy the Red Locust, before embarking on a well-deserved retirement. His vacation aboard a Pan Am clipper between Shanghai and San Francisco comes to an abrupt end when millionaire Dr. Spindelthorp is found murdered. What begins as a routine case for Sun will ultimately decide the fate of humanity.

Lazy, horrible writingI had no desire to see this movie since the previews seemed mediocre. I watched the movie on Disney + after it was released as a regular movie and not a premium title on the streaming platform. The characters are poorly written, Scarlet’s acting was sub par, and the plot made little sense from A to B. It felt like no one cared enough for acting when this was Black Widow’s last movie in MCU..Score: 1/5

MediumThe first 2/3rds promise a better movie before the final act, which dissolves into a cgi mess. I wish Marvel would nail a female led movie as this and Captain Marvel are way below the high bench marks they’ve set. Black Widow falls in the lower tier of Marvel offerings (think Ant-Man, IM 2, Thor TDW, Captain Marvel) and plays it safe. The plot is your basic mind control nonsense, while the action always feels like it pulls back just when things are getting good. As a final outing for the character, it’s average. Florence Pugh is def the MVP and manages to outshine Scarlet in her own movie! Come on Marvel, gotta show you’re ready for Storm when she finally arrives!! 🌩 3/5.Score: 3/5
