Great movieGreat film the 4k version rocks. In my opinion if people are not willing to wait they shouldn’t complain when a new version of the film is released. The old version was fundamentally different ( not 4k) if that’s what you bought that’s what you get. The same differences occur with physical dvds. No free upgrade from the HD version and a bad 4K release!?!?Halloween is my favorite movie of all time. That being said, I have a lot of versions of this classic film. One of the many versions I have is of course the iTunes HD version. I was beyond happy to see it came to iTunes in 4K. I purchased it and got charged. No free update like apple promised. I purchased the other version on iTunes. Explain that apple……movie on from that. This is, and let me be very clear, a very bad 4k version of Halloween. I have three, yes 3, versions of Halloween on 4K. Lion Gates 4K release of Halloween from 2018. Then the following year I got the same version of the movie in a Best Buy steelbook. Like I said, it’s my favorite movie. Don’t judge, it’s a classic. A few months ago, Shout Factory/Scream Factory released the film in 4K as well. Yes, these are two different 4K transfers. I have to say the Shout Factory version is superior. But if you like and own the Lions Gate 4K release, it’s a great transfer as well. There are many reviews online if people are really curious between the two. Anyway, back to this version. It is so hard to watch this one. I just tried on my iPhone 13 Pro Max and I couldn’t stand it. The colors aren’t too bad, but the movie seems so over exposed. Dark scenes have a weird back light grain to the movie. You see it right away when the film starts. Then in the daylight scenes the sky is so bright. I actually squinted when they show the daytime scene after Michael escapes Smith’s Grove. It’s almost feels like there is no HDR or even 4K for that matter. The color tries to be natural, but everything else seems thrown off. I tried to see if someone did a review of this iTunes 4K version and couldn’t find one. Wanted to try and help the fans who were on the fence. I am, in no means, an expert of 4K/Digital media, but to me, this is just so bad. If I do watch Halloween on my phone, I think I’ll stick to the HD version. Apple hit me with a double whammy. I could’ve looked the other way if it was a free upgrade. Nope, I paid for a downgrade. The one star is for the movie. It is still Halloween. Hope this helps..TIMMMAY!!!!Score: 1/5
